Someone posted in a thread I started about saving cottons that if my shots are brown, then its not heroin in the shot. All of my shots are brown, and I've awlays thought this to be a normal colour for heroin disolved in water. Is this not the case? I would have just asked this in the same thread the question was asked but the thread has since been closed.

all heroin i have iv'd over the years is a tan powder and turns dark brown when added to water and remains brown in the rig even after filtering.
I donno if that helps or not, but figured i'd throw my .02 in.
%)

Pure heroin hydrchloride/acetate is colorless when disolved in water. Impurities from e.g. opium latexes and oxidation products are tan to black and are what usually gives street "heroin" its coloration.

^^What he said. It is "normal" to have your dope turn brown, tan, gold, any shade when mixed with water. Black tar turns black. Any drug in it's pure HCL crystal/powder form should be completely colorless and white but nobody here is getting pure 100% clean dope. So yes, it is normal for your shots to be colored from the impurities that are no doubt in your drugs. Not sure there is much more to say on the topic.

K, cool thanks guys, I was sure that it was normal for heroin shots to mix up brown but I had started a thread about reusing cottons/surfaces from earlier the same day or the night before, and that I figured there was dope in them because there was some brown colour to them. Since my shots were always brown from the start, I figured this was a good sign that there was dope in these cottons/surfaces. Someone then posted that, "Diacetylmorphine (heroin) is bleach-white in it's crystalline (hydrochloride salt) state; dissolved in water it results in a clear solution. Just FYI. If your shot is brown, it has something other than diacetylmorphine hydrochloride in it." I guess I took it the wrong way.... I know that nobody gets pure heroin from anybody. However, this leads me to wonder, what makes it brown? If pure "heroin" is supposed to dissolve into clear solution then why does all heroin disslove into a brown solution? Is it just natural chemicals that grow in the poppy pod that don't contribute to the high? Forgive me if I sound like a moron here, but I'm just curious at this point.

My bad, I missed the post by sekio before I posted that. Scrolled down a little too quick i guess. Good lesson though....I'd love to get my hands on some "pure" heroin...

if you did it might kill you. The gear in the UK atm is almost ALL dark brown shite.. some better than some. I travel literally hundreds of miles to get so I know whats happening, has been like this for a while. I even managed to get hold of some of the violin wax that was being knocked out in last years drought last week :-( (fuck you man) Ended up with full throttle rattle and a blocked pin (fuck you again) but in my experience, the paler the gear is.. the better.

i had tar once that was black and hard like a piece of slate. when mixed with water you couldnt see through it at all, matter of fact it looked like black water color paint. i tried heating it and once it heated up, all of the black dissapeared and the shot was a gold color. the filter turned black, like all that black stuff was parrticulate and it melted out into the filter or something. and it was def heroin, my guy never burned me and i got high just like normal. never seen anything like that before or since.

Yes, exactly. Opium latexes and stuff, planyt pigments, dead aphids etc all end up in the opium used for making heroin. Often they are not entirely washed out.
