A writer. Or a wannabe writer, at any rate.
Not a user of any substance more exciting than caffeine or the occasional sleeping pill (yeah, that sounds stupid said out loud). Not interested in starting, either- my family history has a long list of people who thought they could play in the fire and were wrong. But I do firmly believe in everyone's rights to do their own thing, long as they're not hurting anyone else. And there is no scenario where education is a bad thing.
Anywho- I'm here for research more than anything else. Because, seriously, making up shit about what drug use and users are "really like" is what Hollywood does. I'm not Hollywood. I wish I was- I could find ways to use billions of dollars- but I'm not.
Right now, I kinda need to find out what fairly common (legal or otherwise) drug you would mix with cocaine if your *goal* was to kill someone. I have a character who's planning to murder a coke/crack user. I need the name of a drug that is pretty much guaranteed to kill, but won't raise too much police suspicion.
I'm currently stuck with using straight up arsenic- but arsenic (which the internet assures me has been cut into coke before by horribly unscrupulous people) is an easy, lazy option that I'd like to avoid. Plus this murderer would know could be identified as murder and perhaps traced back. I do know arsenic is easily identified in the body, and unless you're reenacting Jonestown, it's not known for being a party drug. So, I'm now doing what every writer who has a character who's more educated on the subject than they are has to do... ask someone else...
And I do intend to have stories which put some focus on drug use (not heavy, but part of the background reality) in the future. So it pays to get to know some people who can give me answers.
This place looks like a great place to start.
