Thanks for the read of the thread. I was going to ask pretty much this same question, around that same dose (sometimes more) 8) I used to do CWE's around a year ago, but as self destructive as this may sound to people, even if I have the energy i'm too lazy to bother doing it. Sigh

Totally. I regret abusing codeine and raising my tolerance. I have to take DHC every day for chronic pain and it barely touches my pain. In PM too. Time to find a new doctor.
 
I really do have to laugh at the notion that somehow a person with a reaonable dope habit will somehow get more out of a few OTC codeine tablets than someone who performs a CWE on a regular basis, while it is quite obvious that cross tolerance between these drugs is far from complete what they do have in common is that both of their pharmacological properties are both thought to be largely derived from the fact they are pro drugs of morphine (don't even jump on me for that because I acknowledhge the potential pharmacological significane of 6 glucuronide codeine as well as other metabolites that may have an effect as well as the fact heroin is also a pro drug of 6 monoacetylmorphine as well as morphine) and it really is absurd to me that anyone would be of the opinion injecting a couple points of street heroin had less of a tolerance to the therapeutic effects of codeine than someone using CWE frequently.

No class of drugs has complete cross tolerance but codeine is like the bottom of the ladder and heroin is almost at the top of common recreational opioids. I don't deny I can be somewhat hypocritical at times, but it is pretty amusing to see criticism of codeine users to clean their act up from people who don't seem to manage to clean up their own.

i don't know. i find it a good painkiller, especially when mixed with APAP (pure codeine tablets don't seem to have the same effect).

also and I only just found this out but Narcolepsy can be treated with codeine. now this makes sense because i must have like ten out of the ten symptoms of Narcolepsy and it now makes sense that I've had a love affair with codeine, one far more passionate then say with heroin or any other substance.
