My many medications

I'm bored, so I thought it might be interesting (or at least help to pass a bit of time) to list all the psychiatric drugs I've been prescribed over the last 12 years!

Current meds:

Citalopram
Clonazepam
Diazepam
Seroquel

Past meds:

Carbamazapine
Clozapine
Haloperidol
Lithium Carbonate
Olanzapine
Prozac
Sodium Valproate
Risperidone
Temazepam
Zopiclone

A lot of those previous medications I actually didn't need. A doctor misdiagnosed my borderline personality disorder as bipolar disorder, so I was given a cocktail of anti-psychotics and mood stabilisers that weren't even necessary!

 

I'm still a bit boggled at how something as simple as a lithium salt can be so effective a treatment for a disorder as complex as BPD. Not that I'd ever want to take it though.

That's quite the benzo stack you've got going right now though. Is that for maintenance or are you trying to come off them?

 

^ The lithium was actually prescribed to me when my psychiatrist thought I was bipolar. I was up to 1000mg a day at one stage. Nasty stuff - I'd rank it among the worst medications I've ever been on. That and clozapine.

I'm currently in the slow agonising process of switching my clonazepam to diazepam, so hopefully in 6 weeks time I should be off that one. It's proving to be quite a struggle though!
