Hey all, been lurking here and replying to stuff for a while but wanted to post an introduction. I am all about safe iv admin. I also take PO but i am far too grown up now to be putting anything up my nose! I started plugging stuff that was meant for IV because I was too scared to IV. I have an extensive medical background and have seen the horrors. But plugging IV med seemed silly and i started to think i was doing some damage there. So I carefully started treading the waters of IV. And thus my love affair began. You cant see a single mark on my arms, spare a tiny pin hole dot here and there the same day as my injection, but the next day nothing. The big trick there is PRESSURE and ELEVATION. Right after admin, hold pressure on the site and raise your arm above your head for at least 30 seconds, while holding pressure. Honestly this is the key- my arms look pristine. Never a bruise or anything. I have missed a shot twice in my life, in which case ice and elevation really helped. Both times i missed it was because of the needle i chose. The only thing I will use now is 25G x 5/8. It has an orange base where the luer lock twists on, and a safety pink cap. Those crappy flexible insulin syringes are for the birds. forget it. Another safety issue is constipation with opiate use. Guys, you gotta be doing something to stay regular. Over the counter colace on a daily basis is a must, plus something in addition like miralax if you arent going daily or every other day. This happens with me now that my use has increased and the stomach pain i get is my reminder/wake up call....gotta be doing something to keep the bowels moving every day if you are taking/using opiates! Im still trying things to see what works for me. I do love Iv'ing...i feel like i know my veins so intimately and have a good routine. I am very diligent about being SAFE and CLEAN in every aspect. I am also being responsible with my small habit and keeping my sh*t together. I am worried about things getting too out of hand and i enjoy coming to this site to connect with people and stay grounded. Ya know what i mean? thanks for listening all!
