Misc My Lithium script is up, and I feel like shit

So my Lithium ran out a day or two ago, and I'm starting to feel like garbage; I don't know if I can attribute it to the lack of the medication though, can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I have had more headaches in the last thirty six hours than I have in the last six months; I feel like i'm close to throwing up for several minutes at a time, and I cannot sleep.

My brain is like, LOL GO GET HIGH THO

But if I can just tell myself it's only the meds wearing off, I can stick it out.

It's probably the Lithium causing that...why were you on it though? You should probably go follow up with your doctor just to make sure everything is going okay with your blood levels too (isn't this done every month anyway?).

My friend was on the stuff for awhile and he would feel like crap if his prescription ran a couple of days short. However, because of the nature of the medication I would go double check with the doctor before I got off of it long term (not that I'd want to be on it in the first place but I understand it's the only thing that works for some people :)).

I'm not intentionally discontinuing it, I am out of state (Living in Indiana, home is in Illinois), and to refill the script, I am required to see the doctor, in person (I asked if I could do it over the phone).
Irritatingly, I am going home to pick up some stuff from home tomorrow, and tried to schedule an appointment, but my doc is out of town tomorrow.

I would say, if someone asked, that it does nothing.

But interestingly, I would also say, that when I don't take it, I feel worse.

So I know it helps.

They can't call it in because they have to constantly check the level of it in your blood, it can change due to so many factors (other medications for example) and it can be very toxic if the blood levels are too high. That's why it's one of the "last line" drugs.

By the way, didn't mean to be rude in my last post. I was just curious why you were taking it because it sounded like you were coming off of it at the directions of a doctor.

If I were you I'd call back and see if you can at least make your doctor aware that you've run out of your meds, maybe he can refer you to someone that can see you on short notice.

I understand what you mean about feeling like it does nothing. My friend said the same thing about it but you could tell if he hadn't taken his dose because he got a little manic...hard to describe but he just wasn't himself. I often had to remind him to take the stuff (he'd honestly forget a lot, we were room mates at the time). At one point he lost his prescription about half-way through the month and was able to get a re-fill for it the next day, but like you, he was required to come in and see his doctor.

You didn't come across as rude, no worries. I am going to see what I can do about seeing a doctor out here. After all, the medication itself, with NO insurance is $4 a fill, lol.
