Recovery My journey starts today (hydromorphone)

Thanks tpd. I promised it to her and I will keep my promise. But these damn sleepiness nights... Going to smoke one to try and sleep a little. At least stuff makes me hungry and tired

Hell yeah sixx! dont let anybody bring you down brother remember your saying you are doing this for your wife,
but you could not have gotten this far without you doing it for you. Sometimes my family which i love and would do anything for are bad distractions for me,
i guess sometimes they dont get this it aint the flu and over in two weeks this shit holds onto you and makes you pay for months. Smoking weed again regularly has been a true help and great distraction
from too much sober shock for me ...sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do to stay sane and stay opioid free keep rockin bro!

Enjoy it while you can ;) What about low potency edibles? Or taking tiny tiny little hits off the side of the bowl, like just one at a time (not even smoking the whole bowl), instead of huge rips?

When using cannabis for purely therapeutic purposes, I find it really doesn't take much to make a big difference (although to each one's own).
 
Hey, Sixx. Sorry to hear that shit went down with your wife finding that bead. Did things de-escalate? I hope so...that's a fucked up feeling, getting called out for shit you didn't do. FWIW, I believe that my own wife uses moments like that to express and work through her more general anger and worry about my whole history of using. That is, it's hard for spouses to process the whole big mess emotionally, so sometimes little events get overloaded with emotion. Natural enough, though it's still no fun.

Hang in, man.
 
Last dose, man, I'm definitely in this for me as well, but my daughter and my lady are my drive. And yeah, the whole instant sober thing is to much all at once for me to. A puff off a joint seems to knock the edge off. Funny thing is, I was always so convinced weed messed me up to bad, in reality...I was on the nod all day everyday, weed is like baby shit in comparison. Oh how things change.

Sim, yes things did de escalate. Apparently my wife cleaned out the drawers in my garage and found beeds all through them. A beed could have easily fallen during the clean up process. They're tiny. One would do nothing.... And the drawers are directly above my bench.

My lady is the same way man, like yours, she just doesn't understand this shit. I find she gets uncomfortable if I puff a joint, but popping xanax is fine and dandy..

Conditioned society I suppose... But for the most part she's pretty damn understanding. It's tough for us all.

Sorry to hear things got dicey with your wife, man. FWIW, I live in mortal fear of my wife finding drugs or paraphernalia that I've forgotten to ditch.

On a brighter note, I have started noticing that my wife is a bit less defensive and appalled about things related to my addiction, now that some time has elapsed since I quit. It's going to be a long process, but at least I can see signs that our relationship is mending. I really hope you and yours find that things go the same way!
 
That is fucking great to hear sim! She will probably go back and forth, but as your lifestyle regularizes and further stabilizes, you'll notice she will as well over time :)

I have *started* the letter. But it's going slower than I'd like. Trying not to overthink it, though not with much success. :\

Thanks guys, it was just an intake. Five million questions, what they offer, and what I'm after kinda thing. Just a weekly type deal. To learn some coping strategies and such.. I'm gonna give it a whirl and see where it takes me.

On a fun note, I went out and bought a new lathe! Oh man, new machine tools always get the endorphins popping!

Sweet! Is it a mini lathe? Were you able to check out any of the groups before signing up, or are you just jumping all in to try it out?

Tpd, no, not quite a mini. It's just a small 9x20 manual machine. I have a couple specific uses in mind. I'll probably treat it as a project and make parts for it. With a lathe and milling machines I can't build new machines. That's fun!

Yeah, I'm just kinda jumping in and rolling with it for now. The therapist said I'm pretty much doing as good as I could hope. She said often people are court ordered to attend, so it's refreshing that I want to on my own free will.

I'm open to whatever to be honest. I know how likely relapse is, so learning to over come future occurrences is key..

Funny, this is my only kick, where I actually feel like if I ever relapse... I'd immediately kick again. I want this sober shit. It's tough but I want it!

I'm glad that your program realizes how commendable it is for you to want to be there and not just have to be there. Congrats on moving forward in your recovery like a mother-fucking-pro!

I'm sure you have a bunch of people in your life (including us here at SL) who are really proud of you. Isn't that a good feeling? You are gaining trust and credibility every day just by making it to the end of the day sober. I hope you have time to celebrate your accomplishment with your wife and daughter!
