my heart exploding on codeine

I took codeine today for the first time, a 300 mg dose, and im feeling that my heart is gonna explode!!! is it normal? i think it was supposed to calm me down.... im really shaky as well... should I take some benzo to revert it?
 
that is a very high dose for a first time, but you'll probably survive.... if youre not currently experiencing a lot of respiratory depression, a benzo could help too...
 
yeah next time do 150-200mg and you should have none of these nasty effects...
good to hear its getting better :)
 
Codiene trips can do a 180 on you in a matter of seconds. My first time, I got so confused I was ready to panic. Sounds like your misinterpreting the euphoria. Try to find the right angle to feel the high. I remember running to the pharmacy looking for Narcan my first time coz I swore I was ODing on 150mgs of codiene. Its just not going to happen. Stop worrying.
 
What pills where you taking???

Opiates slow the heart rate.. It could be that they contained caffiene/psuedophed.
 
I would also estimate that it was the caffeine. But if there was no caffeine it would be harder to explain as codeine slows down your HB & respiration. Perhaps you either had a slight allergic reaction to the codeine, or simply panicked. The only time my heart felt like it was going to explode on codeine was when I ingested 1.5g + of caffeine along side it.
 
no, there was no caffeine in it, i think it was more of a psychological effect, cause it sllowed down after a while...... but it was a kinda disapointed cause i expected more from the codeine pills that were so hard to get!!!! i only got high after I smoked a bowl
 
Next time try to make sure your relaxed before using it. Also try it in conjunction with either a benzo or anti-histamine. But adjust you dosages as they are also CNS downers, and should help you relax if it was psychological.
