First of all, I'm not sure how everyone's stuff is usually packed, but around here everything is sold as individual units and the powder is placed in a flap (keno or magazine paper folded like an envelope to keep powder from spilling) or else packed tightly in a little opaque (usually orange or black) plastic ball in 2 layers and tightly tied.
Anyway, my guy does flaps packed in ten and wrapped. In a random few flaps, he writes the word "winner" on the inside such that you'd need to have bought it and opened it to see it. Every winner flap entitles you to one free one next time you see him.
I'm not sure if anyone else has had something like this, but it really is a great idea and so much fun. Addictive of course since now gambling is added to the mix, but a genius business idea. Mark only a few flaps but if you buy regularly, they add up and you are encouraged to see the same guy and buy regularly. The actual total amount given away by the winners is probably negligible for him and more than made up for by the frequency of visits. It just adds a whole new dimension to the whole experience. I've managed to save up 5 or 6 winning flaps at a time, and he always honors them so I know if I'm seeing him, I have my regular purchase plus a whole bunch extra free.
