My friend, why must
you be so unkind?
Stroking your ego,
you're going blind.

Altruism, it seems to me,
is your poisoned mythology,
so why not renounce
your illusions of superiority?

Not everyone adheres
to the values you hold
we have no obligation
to live up to your ideals

you make me want to leave here
you make me want to walk out the door
you make me want to turn my back in silence
after pronouncing my vow to rely no more

you make me want to burn away
all remaining value and empathy

you inspire me to sever the hand
clamped down on my sharp tongue
to stop biting verbal bullets and
let my mouth be my gun,

the moment will go by
with you watching bullets fly
ripping holes through your bloated ego
so maybe you can see in time

everyone needs time to find direction
everyone goes at their own pace
no one is helped by preaching belittlement
you overemphasize your role and place

recall that not long ago
you were just such a `waste'
and without hands to hold
where would you be today?

I love this last stanza - it's really biting. The person who you wrote this for would be a fool not to meditate on those words for a bit.

Nice work overall. :)
