Hey guys
My Doc just prescribed me 20mg Paroxetine, which is an anti-depression/anti-anxiety drug.

Thing is, I dont have depression OR anxiety, I went in to see her about memory retention/mental clarity and focus issues. I am a pretty happy dude comfortable in most social situations, but both my psych and my GP seem to think I have anxiety and depression.

Like, I trust them and all, being much more qualified than I am, but I think I know myself and I have never even been close to feeling anxious or depressed.

I did some research when I got home and this stuff paroxetine has some pretty nasty side effects, people report almost complete libido death, weight gain, daytime drowsiness (which is one of my actual issues anyway) and a difficult withdrawal period when coming off them.

Sounds like the absolute opposite thing that I want, do I just wait the two weeks before telling her they are not for me, or do I take them anyway? I mean, theyre qualified right? they know whats best for me?

Id feel like a rude asshole going back within and day and saying 'I didnt take that stuff, but i went on google for 20 minutes and feel like your 20 years of medical school experience has prescribed me the wrong thing.'

What are my options?

First post here, apologies if it is in the wrong place.

You don't have to take anything you're not comfortable taking if you're not a hazard to yourself... I'd talk to your doctor about your concerns.

Don't start taking paroxetine if you don't want to... it's a drug that doesn't lend itself well to switching on and off rapidly.
