Hi all! I was reading posts on Bluelight all day and I finally decided to register. I am ready to hop right in! Sure we will run into each other....I hope. :)

I know I will need help because I had no clue what many of the abbreviations meant. :? If you see me flailing, help is more than appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Amapola, thank you for your response! Everyone seems pretty helpful so far!

Thanks again! Can't wait to start finding out what those abbreviations mean! :)

You also have to deal with all the different forums which even I don't get sometimes.

Anyways good luck on your quest for knowledge.

Ok, I know that this is going to seem really dumb, but I have never been in a forum before sooo.......

I do not know how to quote certain parts of posts that I want to reply to so I just do a quick post. No idea how to do anything else.

Also, I do not know how to follow the threads that I have posted on and how to know if someone has responded to me.

I am about to go search FAQ and hope I can find some help.

To quote someone else you just have to use quote tags.
HTML:
[quote] text to be quoted [/quote]
text to be quoted

You can also throw in a "originally posted by ..." like so
HTML:
[quote=userName123]text to be quoted[/quote]
userName123 said:
text to be quoted

The easiest way to quote someone else is to click "quote" in the bottom right corner of their post, and it will take you to advanced editing with a copy of their quoted post. There is also a little "multiquote" button if you want to quote more than one person.
-----------------------------------
In order to track threads you have posted in or are interested you need to subscribe to them. Subscribed threads show up in your userCP whenever somebody posts something in them that you haven't read yet.

To set up your account to automatically subscribe to threads you post in, you got to userCP-editOptions-Messaging&Notification-DefaultThreadSubscriptionMode and change the drop down menu to anything other than "do not subscribe"

You can also manually subscribe to threads by using the thread tools pull down menu at the top of every thread.

Good Luck!

Amapola,

Thank you! I will try that out!!

I went to Bluelight tips under support and they had bluelight for dummies...there were some really great tips!!! Anyone who is new should visit there.

Wish they had mentors on here. lol

You could always participate in the "Bluelight adoption" thing :) Thats sort of what its meant for... With suggestions like the one you made above, I'd be happy to adopt you! =D

What is this""Bluelight adoption" of which you speak?

Going to check this out now!!!!!

I'd love for you to adopt me! I am so lost!

Welcome to BL! I'm new myself but i'd just like to say speak your mind on here...the people here are very helpfull and supportive.

It's quite the weird place, I don't see any other state getting rain, sunshine, a tornado and snow all in one day.

Yes, I know all about it. My mother came to visit once and was so confused by the weather she never came back! I still laugh thinking about it.
