My first experience with DMT - Quite abnormal

Yesterday I had my first experience with vaporised DMT. I haven't written a trip report before and I'm sure bits of my description won't be new to those of you that have tried DMT but the whole experience was so utterly bizarre that I thought it was worth sharing.

I used a Pulsar APX Volt and weighed out 30mg of DMT. The setting was my wooden bench set in a meadow next to a big meandering river near my house, the bench is in a small mown patch surrounded by tall grass and reeds. The meadow is bordered on one side by the river and on the other by a hedgerow and trees, beyond that is my house.

I had tried to vape 30mg DMT the evening before this trip and had some visuals but definitely no breakthrough, most likely due to my technique. It was good to get a better idea of how to use my vaporiser and to get used to the odd taste however. The morning of this trip I had taken 30mg of 2C-B Hbr followed later by 3 weak hits of LSD that I would guess were dosed at approximately 50ug each. I had passed the peak of this experience and was no longer seeing visuals but I'm sure it contributed to the trip.

I pulsed the vaporiser and watched the DMT melt quickly in the bowl, once melted I inhaled as much of it as I could in one go. The taste wasn't that bad but I definitely felt that my lungs did not like being filled with the vapour, I tried hard to keep inhaling and to hold my breath. As I inhaled I closed my eyes and scrunched my face as I held the vapour in, after counting to about 10 I felt a familiar psychedelic buzz in my body and exhaled while opening my eyes. The first thing I noticed was the grass and reeds surrounding me looking like small groups of crowns, as if I was suddenly in the presence of royalty. The crowned grass pulsed and breathed, seemingly happy that I had held my breath for long enough.

The only thing I feel I can compare the visual experience to is one of these optical illusions. For me it felt like an expansion of the instant where my brain fills in the white dot with a black dot. As if my brain sees the white dot surrounded by black squares and thinks "That can't be right, doesn't make sense! Lets put a black dot in the white circle and see how that goes"

During the trip it felt as though my brain unexpectedly had a load of these types of gaps in it's normal sensory input and went into overdrive to fill them. I found it interesting and fun to be able to see how my brain attempted to fill that space and the inexplicable way it went about it. If my mind could explain it's process in creating the hallucinations I think it would have gone something like this;

My brain - "Woah there! Not quite sure what I'm seeing here, I thought there was a hedgerow and trees over there but it's not so clear now, shall we go for something tallish and just fill in the gaps with roughly the same colour?

Also my brain - "Sounds like a decent guess, but on closer inspection I think maybe it's actually a 30ft tall preying mantis with clown make-up? Got to show Bicycle Tripper something after all"

My brain -
iu

Only for a moment did I feel at all threatened but this soon passed when I settled into the experience. I found that the visuals were strongest when I looked blankly in one place without moving. Sometimes when I did move my head it was as though my brain promptly decided that it had got it's previous guess of how to fill a gap completely wrong and needed to try something different immediately, on one occasion the sky beyond the hedgerow appeared as a lattice of stripey spinning pipes in my peripheral vision, on looking over there it flipped upside down and the pipes began to spin the other way. It wasn't really a better guess but I appreciated the effort.

As the trip began to subside there were still plenty of visuals, One thing I found amazing is how everything looked so different but at the same time felt like that is exactly how it does look, I just hadn't seen it in that way before. Nothing was totally misrepresented I just saw what was really there differently (sometimes very differently). In a way the whole experience was as if my sensory inputs were a guitar string that had only ever been gently plucked by the likes of LSD, the DMT gave it a good strum and I was able to watch the music as it subsided.

Anyway if you've got this far then thanks for reading, I'm not sure if this was really what people would describe as a 'breakthrough' I don't think there was a time during the trip when I didn't still feel like I was still sat on the bench in the meadow, even if the visuals did very nearly take over completely at the peak. All in all plenty of bizarre fun was had.

Thank you for sharing your experience
I'm gonna try DMT in the near future I'm curious what to expect

Interesting read - i appreciate the play-by-play of your brain :)

Your description sounds familiar but i probably would never have explained it close to the way you did. I think I usually closed my eyes on DMT so I don’t recall OEVs
Haven’t tried it in almost a decade
