Who knows what it’s like to live in a cookie-cutter world?
In our little bubble, our
“milkfed suburbia”
this is the one place we can go…
to dance,
to talk
to “pawd*e”,
to be “me”.
This movement against the current, this insurgance of life into anti-monotony
Is what allows us to not be ruled by the Big Brother of “proper culture”
To those on the ouside looking in:
You have found the anithesis of the rose colored glasses I choose to wear…
All you see are the mistakes… of myself, of my friends.
Can you see the positive parts of the life I choose to lead, or must you push this
Idea of “the good kid” on me… when will you understand that I am a
Good kid?
How can you say that you provide everything for me?
In your home I get my morals, for which I am grateful; I get my food, and sometimes guidance that comes from someone who is not sympathetic to my true plights…
In your schools I get the chance to memorize facts, and be thrust in to a battlefield for standing and popularity.
What I really want is to be accepted and to learn.
You cannot, or will not, provide me with these things, so I seek for light elsewhere. Where I find it, you seek to destroy it—I am given the chance to be, and you want me to become.
“give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime”
when I was a child, you spoke to me of love, of peace, of acceptance… why do you turn your back and your heart on the one place in this cold “reality” that I have found all that you tried to show me?
