i ordered an eztest a few weeks ago and i just got a letter that the shipment was seized because it was a:
"controlled substances which are considered prohibited and therefore contraband"
now i have to petition for something i dont even understand what the letter says, i need help with this, if anyone knows anything about this please reply

I had the same trouble ordering a testing kit from Dancesafe to Canada. I e-mailed Dancesafe and they reversed the charges. Really cool of them, though it took a while (4-6 weeks). I was able to get a kit into Canada from EZ-TEST in Amsterdam.

im in america, im from nyc, this all happened at JFK according to the letter....

the letter is from US Customs Service and reads "The property was seized under the provisions of title 19, United States Code, section 1595a(c)(1)(B). The property seized is described as follows: controlled substances which are considered prohibited therefore contraband"
Then it says i can petition for relief from the liability then a whole bunch of legal stuffi dont understand, the end of it says "in addition to the seizure(s) and forfeiture of liability, a civil penalty has been or will be assessed in this matter."
if theres anything anyone knows please let me know

OK, this is new for us.
EZ Tests do not contain any controlled substance. We never ever had a problem sending to the US.
It seems that this is not a high level government action orso but more like individual lower level seizure (this is the 2nd such a complaint).
Like, they don't know what it is and therefore seize it.
We definetely regret all this and will hopefully come up with a good answer soon.
I'd like to point out the link at Erowid : http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_faq_testing_kits.shtml#legal
Basically, law says they are not illegal.
I hope to have some more information soon.

EZ Test

my guess is some over eager customs newbie opened the package, read the li'l leaflet inside, saw the word "ecstasy" and thought "Bingo! i scored the big one! here comes a promotion!"
legally you have done nothing wrong... i just hope you aren't living with your parents, it might make explaining a little tricky...
if there is an ACLU office in your town you might want to have a talk about this to them. it's exactly the sort of legal fuck up they love

Yes, we have that "newbee customs" impression too.
The other one that was seized was in the same area.
If they wanted to stop it, they would go after dancesafe as well, they sell far more testkits.
Finally, have a look here : http://www.crime-scene.com/ecpi/serology_drug.html
This company sells the same stuff and is allowed to do so for years already.
Anyway, if other facts come up I will definitely post it here.

More info on this.
We have been receiving more reports of seized kits.
However, after we got the relevant file numbers etc from our customers we rang the Customs guy and asked what seemed to be the problem....
They thought that EZ Test kits contain Amyl Nitrate (poppers).
After explaining that it does not contain poppers or Amyl Nitrate, he said they would sort things out and we should not expect any further difficulties.
Apparently, they thought that EZ Test was just a cover for Amyl Nitrate.
I hope that Customs guy has not sniffed the whole bottle....For sure he does not know what poppers are ;-)
Anyway, we want to stress (again) that EZ Test does not contain any controlled substances !
