My dog passed away today.

He enjoyed chasing fire trucks and squirrels, napping under the noonday sun, the feeling of wet grass beneath his paws, begging for table scraps, and listening to Tom Waits.

I will miss howling with him.

aw man, I am very sorry for your loss. :(
I can't remember a greater pain than when my boy moved on to whatever's next.

The pain changes forms as time progresses and becomes more tolerable. Its been almost a year for me and it hurts in more of a 'miss you so much' kind of way

Please be well and cry, cry, cry. It truly helps

Sending positive thoughts your way. <3

so sorry. :( he sounds like a good dog and it sounds like you have a lot of happy memories of him. i hope there's an infinite amount of fire trucks and squirrels for him to chase now. <3

My condolences to you. It's so hard to lose a companion as unquestioningly loving and loyal as a good dog. Remember the good times, and in time that will overshadow the pain of his passing.

Thank you Dave, Spork, Animal_Cookie and OverDone for your kind words and encouragement - they mean a lot. This is a sad day for me. My home feels much emptier without him. If only I could cuddle with my goldfish.

Dogs really are special. It was nice to be loved for no other reason than my ability to pour puppychow.

PS. Dave - thank you so much for the Mozart piece over in TDS. I love it.

I'm not a huge fan of Mozart, but he wrote that piece as part of a Requiem (memorial) mass for his wife, who had just passed. The aching, yet transcendentally beautiful, sorrow in that Lacrimosa has been used heavily, but retains its impact. So glad that you enjoyed it. :)

I'm very sorry. I've never had a dog but I have lost other pets before and it's tough.

Just think of the good times
