my dog just ate acid

Hydrogen Peroxide? That shit burns if you have a single cut in your mouth. Sounds like it would cause massive damage if it got in the stomach. Acid + Base = ? (bad reaction)

I know this thread is basicly finished but just had to add in a fact for any1 who reads it
Hydrogen Peroxide can be used as a anti-infectent
Im doing nursing and its used in mouth care procedures. Something like 1part Hp to 3parts water; its used on cotton tips to clean shit that forms on teeth in patients maybe in a coma, before cleaning the mouth with other stuff too
Anywaz the point waz it can't be too bad
But then again thats relying on my 'knowledge' 8) hehe

acid + base = indigestion medicine.

Tums is a base. It neutralizes acids.

The doctor probably thought that you were referring to an acid, such as hydrochloric acid, instead of LSD. In that case, hydrogen peroxide is ideal.

My friend's cat ingested a few mushrooms a couple years ago. It's eye is permanently on the a slant.

My dog ate some of my sisters old boyfreinds shrooms a couple of years ago. It lost one of its nails attacking a wooden chair in the living room. I think they gave it some phenobarbitol or something to calm it down. All that happened to him was that he got extremley aggresive (a very calm dog)

My mate's kitten ate a tab of acid. It was attracted to the shiny tinfoil it was wrapped in. We tried to wrangle it out of her mouth to no avail.

Freaking out we called a 24 hour vet from a pay phone...paranoia and high as fuck. It was suggested to put hydrogen peroxide in a dropper and force the liquid into its' throat to induce vomiting. That was a scary scene...it didn't work.

Even with the tab in tinfoil, the kitty died about 3 days later. It was not a fun trip for us or the kitty.

KEEP YOUR DRUGS OUT OF THE REACH OF ANIMALS AND CHILDREN.
That should be obvious but it didn't happen that night. I had forgotten about that incident and I feel shitty again about it.
Give us some details please. How did the kitten react?

It was a long time ago. I prefer not to give the play by play death of an animal that we were responsible for. We should have taken it to the vet the next morning. We were scared. We were stupid.

seeing as we dont' even knwo the ld-50 of acid in humans i doubt we know it for elephants

Right, ok:

In 1962, three men at the University of Oklahoma, lead by the idiosyncratic, CIA-collaborator Louis Jolyon "Jolly" West, injected LSD into an elephant for the first time. Their stated intent was to determine if LSD would induce "musth", a naturally occurring condition in which elephants become violent and uncontrollable. After a series of events, the elephant died.

I know a dealer who's dog supposedly ate over two and a half sheets of acid. The dog is still alive today. I've heard three different people say they saw it so I do think it's real.

For those who might run into this in the future. I'd guess the cat most likely died from the intenstinal blockage and internal hemorrhaging. LD50 is on Erowid's master-LD50 list, but the site isn't working well at the moment.

A couple months ago I had 2 strong hits sitting on my chair (150µg each). When I came back, I witnessed my dog eating them right up. I was kinda surprised. Maybe they can detect something on the paper and think it's food?

I filmed various parts of the trip. Much of the first few hours it was just zoned out..staring wide-eyed into nothing..and this is a very hyperactive dog (Jack Russell Terrier). It was doing a weird chewing gesture for quite a while, too.
I let it outside for a while and it disappeared in the backyard (forest) for a good 6 hours..kept calling, couldn't find it. Finally came barking at the door the next morning. Must've been a hell of a trip.

I wonder how dogs trip anyway. Do they think trees and other animals are communicating with them?

Even though this thread is years old I thought I'd chime in. They actually do give benzodiazepines to cats at least. They probably give it to dogs as well.

I can't believe someone told you to feed the cat hydrogen peroxide. That's terrible. I agree with f&b, that the h202 is what most likely killed that cat. He and his wife certainly know about animals and drugs, there's no question about that.

^Do you guys mean the hydrogen peroxide reacted with the acid to form something fatal? Because giving hydrogen peroxide to small animals isn't a big deal nor is it fatal my vet told me to give a kitten a dropper full because it ate the nipple off one of it's bottles. It took several droppers before it threw it up, it was fine and lived a healthy life after that. It was only like a month old.

This reminds me of when my rabbit ate my stepdad's weed plant after it was just starting to mature after months of growing...he was not happy. The rabbit did seem kinda lazy and eating more than normal for a while too hehe. Apparently a lot of animals love the taste/smell of it, just like humans I guess. :D
