My Darkness

Eyes wide open
But seeing nothing
Sometime when sleeping
The oblivion of darkness
Was creased with light.

Awaken to the new perception
The awful truth of pure deception
I've been trapped inside
With only my thoughts for company
The light without has finally come within.

I want to break out
But the cocoon of truth,
So safe before
Now laced with lies,
Is harder than anything physical.

The mental plight
The frantic chase
The crazy ride
I find a corner, within my mind,
A different place to run and cry.

If only you could see
My personal hell
You might understand
How my cocoon is self-made
The barrier that keeps me to me.

I've not contemplated
The awful sensation
Of living free, of flying high
The thrill has gone
I step aside.

I don't know
What's wrong or right
I just know
The world is big
I'm so small.

The difference, I find
Is quiet substantial
I like how things are
Why do they have to change
I want to stay right here.

Stay right here
In my egg
My egg of darkness
But in the dark
Lies a certain safety.

Nice work

Tt can very tough stepping out of your comfort zone, or the nice little cocoon that you make from the world, but it can also be liberating!
