Tall, self-confident and arrestingly good looking, Jake Myerson is no shrinking violet.
And yet, 18 months after becoming the poster boy for dope-smoking teenage rebellion, he still finds the fact that people know so much about his life excruciatingly uncomfortable.
When Jake's mother, the Booker-nominated novelist Julie Myerson, laid bare his drug use and the family battles which ensued because of it in her hugely controversial non-fiction work The Lost Child, she couldn't possibly have anticipated the media furore she unleashed.
Revelations: Jake Myerson has patched up his relationship with his parents after mother Julie published a warts-and-all book based on his taking drugs
No detail of Jake's life was spared: how he stole money from his family, how he rowed and physically fought with his parents and how they came to the decision to throw their 17-year-old son out of their home for good.
Even more galling for Jake was that his 50-year-old mother, a doyenne of the chattering classes, only told him of his starring role in her new oeuvre when it was already finished.
When the book was published in March last year, Jake found himself caught up in the inevitable media firestorm, fanned by interviews with his mother and father.
Not only did he accuse them of exaggerating his 'addiction' to marijuana, but he also spelt out just how furious he was to have this deeply troubled period of his young life aired so publicly.
Branding his parents 'insane', 'naïve' and prone, at times, to fantasy, he stated: 'In the book she has taken the very worst years of my life and cleverly blended it into a work of art, and that to me is obscene.'
Nothing has been heard of Jake since. Julie, meanwhile, has also been unusually quiet.
So, 18 months on, and a good deal of water under the bridge later, what has been the fall-out from this most public of spats?
