I felt this poem was worthy of being a keeper. I wrote it for my fiancee (well, ex-fiancee at the moment) and I'm going to give it to her when I visit her in jail on Saturday. Tell me what you all think. :)

My Best Friend Jess

Together we went walking, on a beach beneath a sky raining snow,
That we would find no shells, pieces of the ocean, we weren't to know,
I held your hand, you held mine, as we walked ever so slow,
We had all the time in the world, and everywhere to go,
Out on the horizon, I could see some sort of fishing boat,
Like our bonded souls, at that time it was safely afloat,

Now you're in the dark castle, surrounded by a moat,
I never liked swimming, but to get to you I'll give it a go,
They say there are sharks in the murky water down below,
But I don't care, and if it's true, I honestly don't know,
So I'll take a chance to interrupt the intermission of our show,
And rescue you from that castle in which they've locked you so,

I'll be your knight in shining armor, though likely dripping wet,
From the swim I'll have to take, so to you I can get,
So wait for me darling, I'm coming I swear and I sweat,
And when you wonder why I haven't arrived beside your bed,
In your tower so high, please don't lose sleep and fret,
I just haven't gotten there yet,
My best friend, Jess.
