my benzo tolerance

ive been taking benzos for just over a year now,started off on 10 mg valium/and or 1-2 mg xanax tab on a sunday night to help me sleep,which continued for 5-6 months,then last septemberi started using them recreationally on weekends (due to a mixture od anxiety isssues boredom),started keeping a blog of what id taken,i mainly use diazepam,alprazolam and ocassionally temazepam,lorazepam,clonazepam,but then after about 2 months of weekend use/abuse when my intake began to hit 20-30 + pills i stopped keeping the blog,from then on my use/abuse escalated and now im using over 100 pills usually starting friday-sunday.

i only use on weekend never during the week so i always have arounda 7 day break in between session,although this past 3-4 months or so ive noticed muy tolerance shoot right up,i could take a lot of pills before but still get that lovely benzo feeling,now i just feel groggy and moody and sleepy off them and end up just scoffing them fo#r the sake of it and before i know it iove eaten100,maybe 200+ TABS :!

anyway its just become habit now each and every friday i arrive home from work and start on the benzos.

i want to take a break,possibly6-8 weeks.

i was wondering how this break would affect my tolerance if at all? i know il never get that original feeling back but i want to be able to retain some of that old magic 'carefree' feeling i once felt.

what are peoples thoughts on this?

will the break have any effect?

are there any other ways to lower my tolerance?

any opinions/advice greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure how much (if at all) your tolerance will drop.

I'm interested in the answers b/c I'm having the same problem. My tolerance to benzos must be high also as I don't get any good feelings from them anymore. I take up to 8 mgs of Xanax and nothing happens. If something does happen to occur, it's me passing out (which is obviously no fun).

Be careful with withdrawals during your break.
 
Definitely taper, your life will be in jeopardy if you don't with doses that high.

Seriously, don't quit cold turkey. Taper down till you can stop all together.

yeah but wont my tolerance stay high?

also some people have told me because i only use once per week there is no need to taper.

i recently had a 3-4 week break from valium with no adverse effects.
 
You may only use once per week but you use a lot during the time you do use. You could try just quitting, but I wouldn't recommend it.

As for your tolerance, I'm not sure if it'll stay up or come down. I've been wondering the same thing myself as I'd like to lower my tolerance.

As many have said, taking a break is a bad idea, cold turkey. Might end up ugly. Switch to smaller dose diazepam and taper down slowly. Your tolerance will decrease and you won't go into horrible withdrawal.
 
I'm tapering under medical control after 5 years of Triazolam and 1 of Clonazepam, the doc prescribed me Clotiatipe in low doses and works woderfully.
 
well cheers again everyone.

il always keep a supply of xanax and diazepam just incase.

although to be honest i want to try the complete 7-week break completely clean.
