Hello everyone I am new on here. I have been addicted to opiates for about two years now. I switch up from using fentanyl and Roxie's and sometimes if I'm lucky methadones. But for the past week I have been using hydrocodone and I'm taking 4 7.5s a day. Today I took three. I want to quit so bad. I'm tired of this life. My question is if I lower my dose down to one over the next few days and quit Wednesday from one 7.5 how bad is it going to be? What should I expect?
Expect discomfort. Physical pain, nausea and vomiting, pins and needles sensation, inability to sleep with some people, loss of appetite, etc.
You won't die or anything.
Why would you take three today and then take one and quit afterwards on Wednesday? That's really not even a taper. If you're stable on 3, you should take 3 for about 5 days, and then take 2.5 for 5 days, and then 2 for 5 days and so on. If that's not a possible scenario, get some bulk Kratom online. If you have enough to do that with the hydros AND some money to get some bulk Kratom then I'd recommend doing both, and taking a bit of Kratom each day, increasing it just a bit as you decrease the hydros, then once you are stable on the Kratom, start decreasing that over a slow period of time. If you do THAT, it won't be anywhere near as bad as what I described, not even close. You'll ache a bit and that's pretty much it. Otherwise, your plan is one that's going to have you feeling absolutely horrible.
Kratom (for me, at least) had a side effect of also eliminating any and all MENTAL addiction to opioids whether it be something like hydrocodone or kratom itself - the part that goes "I MUST take x to feel x" turned into simply "I need to make sure I take enough to avoid pain".
You and I were in the same boat (though I never used fentanyl, I used hydromorphone, oxycodone and hydrocodone) in terms of length - two years. I did get off hydrocodone with it. I started taking Kratom again by my own will for pain management, but I can say firsthand that if you could transition to it, the withdrawal symptoms during a taper would be nowhere near as bad. Hell, the withdrawal symptoms during a taper of hydros isn't even very bad, but what you have planned isn't really a taper. Your body isn't even going to register in that short amount of time a gradually decreasing amount. If that's all you have it'd actually be better to wait like two or three days for your system to clear a bit, then take a lesser amount again, then wait again, then take a lesser amount again.
Hope any of this helps. If you were to let us know the situation more, such as how many of those you have, it'd be easier to help you.
