I ordered some MXE from overseas: it cleared customs over the weekend, but it's status has been "Processed through USPS Sort Facility" since Monday AM (it's now Wednesday 8 AM). The sort facility is a couple thousand miles from the NYC Customs center. Sent by registered mail (only option, not a choice). I know MXE is legal here, and federally as well.

Is this common, or should I worry?

I'd say they've probably just got a backlog at the sorting office. If I were you I'd give it till the end of the week at least. If it's still not with you on Monday maybe call them... but on the other hand it might be wise just to let it go if you can bear to. MXE might not be illegal in the US but personally I wouldn't draw attention to the fact I've imported designer drugs by trying to chase up the package. Maybe that's paranoid of me.

One thing I've noticed ordering from overseas is that (I think) USPS forgets to scan letters with tracking. I think they never scan but still deliver it. Like it is technically lost in the tracking system but still en route to its destination.

It's happened to me a few times. I've had packages that never cleared customs...never officially (according to tracking) arrived in the US. And end up being delivered on time.

The best part is because they never scanned the tracking info, the vendor considered the package lost and sent another order for free.....shhhh.
:)

Thanks for the info. I suspected the overseas tracking number just wouldn't "fit" into the USPS tracking system: wrong length, characters, whatever. When it left customs they probably entered the regional USPS destination in the system; will stay that way until it's delivered. I agree on staying under the radar - no plans to call USPS and ask where it is. :)

“Even Paranoids Have Enemies” - Golda Meir in response to Henry Kissinger's accusation, during the Sinai peace talks, that Meir was paranoid...

I wonder why this happens. Something about small padded envelopes not being scanned by USPS. Or maybe they get mixed in with normal letters (letters that don't have tracking) so they don't get scanned.

I'm just rambling because I'm waiting on a package myself. And it disappeared on tracking over the weekend so I'm due too. Bah!

I agree 100%. Why draw attention to something like this? Try contacting the seller but other than that id just let it go.

i once called customs demanding my package, they said they would lab test it and it would take 10 days. Never showed up, it was phenazepam though. fuckers.

This really falls under legality and drug purchasing questions. Sometimes posts similar to this skirt around being closed. In this case your question is fairly benign but sort of not the line of discussion we want, since we're not here to help you buy/receive drugs, just to help you use them in as safe a way as possible.

I don't think you should be worrying just yet. Give it a few days to a week and if you haven't received anything contact whoever sent your package and explain the situation, see if there's anything they can do.

If they seized your package you will (or would have already) receive a letter explaining the seizure. More than likely it's just a delay, and with Sandy in process I would expect delays along the east coast and neighbouring states. I don't think anything as happened to your package and you'll probably receive it soon.

Due to the fact this is dubious and your question has been answered by me and various others now anyway, I'm going to close this :)

Closed.
