MXE- different crystalline form and subjective differences in soluablity?

8( I have been a avid user of MXE for about a year now, going through heavy everyday use of up to 300 or so mg all the way down to 50-75mg, this all in cobination with tramadol...( i know i know but ive been addited to tram for 10 years and am prescribed it for depression....

back on topic, as a avid user ive bought mxe from several vendors wich has resulted in the same effects but sometimes its in a ''different'' form

EX: of MXE physical discription and effect when snorted

1. super fine shimmering needles- these are so fine and light they float out of the baggie when opened: when snorted this goes up like cool air and gives the distinctive mxe smell ive come to love and kicks in fast-like 2 min. insane quality- no drip ever noticed! NOTE: this fine crystalline was very light as a small wave of paper will blow a whole pile away. seems rare

2. a granular ''sandy'' form - this has a slight yellow tint ( rarely) and is more heavy and is sometimes in small clumps- this snorted fells the same as above but takes a little longer to kick in 10 min. or so and has a mild drip. -this by far is the most common mxe i come across.

3. this one looks exactly like dessicant ( little beads of glass roundish)- sometimes has a yellowish tint ( more often than the others) and when snorted immediatly dissolves and runs out the nostril and has a very heavy drip, it must be crushed and seems to not absorb very well nasally as only after the drip hits the stomach does it kick in, and if you let it run out your nose it dries into a white film that makes it look like you have been doing blow all night, and it has a very srtong taste with a non typical mxe smell


so my question is this, i know freebase mxe is a oily liquid and the salted are the oes above right, so why are these different- i know all of these are mxe as ive seen these forms on pics from others but can somebody explain why #3 is so different in attributes

Is this due to polymorph/protomophism or a different crystallization process? thank you

impurities will account for differences in smell/colour. even traces as small as 0.1% can impart significant color to an otherwise normally snow-white powder

larger "rocks" of salts will of course take longer to dissolve than finer material. i wager if you pre-dissolve any of these in water and administer it by e.g. plugging most of them would produce the same effects. #3 may be significantly less pure or cut if it feels it "takes longer to hit". (or you could be getting tolerance, or it's not crushed as finely as the others.)

analytically pure MXE HCl, like ketamine, will be "snow white", probably salt-like crystals. if dried in a fancy countercurrent drier (where concentrated solution is blown into a stream of superheated air) the powder will be lovely and fluffy. if dried in a tray drier it will be "chunky". if it's produced from precipitating the freebase out of e.g. acetone, it will be small crystals like table salt.

I don't expect MXE HCl has "different polymorphs". you're just experiencing the joy of product variability.

if you are looking for the lazy mans way to "fix" this, do what the K-heads do, dissolve it in a minimum of hot water and pour it on a surface to dry, then scrape it up.

thankyou sekio, i have done acetone washes to remove any discoloration and have crushed #3 into fine dust, what got me is if i snort 50mg #1 it hits my mucus membranes and absorbs really well where as #3 will literally turn to liquid that willl run out your nose like a bloody nose- you would either have to tilt your head back or plug your nose, im talking instant liquification

But as you said this could be the result of impurities, that explaination about different mehtods like solution through stream of superheated air is exactly what i was always wondering+ its all mxe just different purities,

you are correct they all produce the same effects plugged, so its all mxe to me and thats all i care about......that and purity, thanks agian
