I've never had a valentines card in my life, well I had one from my son's dad which he stole while I was with him, gave it to me , and then told me to put it in the bin.
I've just been in town and jesu wept, It's like a one day Christmas thing. all the red roses extortionaltely priced in M+S. but morrissons had half price sirloins. I'd say it would be nice to be wanted and spoiled but I can get by without it and sppiling myself with Victoria sponge.
 
Jagger wrote the lyrics in his cell. There's the sound of prison doors banging.

Of course, it was released at the height of the acid boom, and around the time the Stones went 'psychedelic'. It's still a snide dig at The Establishment, though.

Maybe that suits you. I dunno. You're free to intepret the song as you please. :)
