MUSIC FAQ...feel free to read/contribute: read the rules B4 you post....bump often!

happy hardcore is just that type of music that is really...happy! examples of this are 'i cant stop raving', a lot of the stuff by dune, 'lipstick - im a raver' and 'tokyo ghetto pussy - i kiss your lips'

this hasn't had any attention lately....*bump*

I wouldn't place too much faith in that 'House 101/History of House Music' article...the guy who wrote it doesn't really know what he's talking about a lot of the time. Some things he got, but I think saying that Jungle was invented when "Someone decided to take a old ragga 33 and spin it at 45" indicates fairly poor research into the areas he was unfamiliar with.

just wanted to *bump* this amazing thread but also wanted to share a link with an interesting site that i found useful when trying to understand all the different genres and sub-genres (still confused but maybe a little less so)
http://www.bblnett.no/chrono/map.html
it was interesting to see how someone maps out the connections between all the different genres - i personally would have situated gabba over near hardcore but i can see its connections to techno as well. maybe to be really accurate you would nead a 3D map.
oh well - check it out for yourselves

Ok, so what you all are saying is that I like progressive trance.
I was wondering what that was that I'm listening to...
I think it's prog trance... this is so confusing... ok, heres what I got out of Napsters Mp3s ( http://www.napster.com highly recommended for those of you who havent got it yet FREE, and I like it better than RealAudio)..
anyways, its:
various-ministry_of_sound_clubbers_guide_to_trance_cd1.mp3
and
MinistryOfSound-ATB-ClubbersGuideToTranceDiscTwo.mp3
I also got Cant stop Raving and Dreamworld, but my favorites are those 1st two because it is nonstop awsome music for over 1 hour each (70+ Mb each holy shit it took 7 hrs to d-load!!)
So... is it prog. trance or what? I can't be sure, I'm confused... somebody help me out plz?
Wait a minute... @ 30 minutes into the soundfile the kongas start kmockin!! ooooh this sound great... w/ the smooth electronic organ in the bacground hitting that melody...
I guess it's a little of everything, trance, jungle... Zombie-Kong
who knows? It just sounds good, but even beter, it evokes emtion (and I'm very sober, mind you... for the past 4 months, nothing)
If anyone could tell me what to call this kind of music, i'd appreciate it.

***BTW, for those Mac users, get MACSTER w/ the G-Force plug-in @ http://www.pure-mac.com . It has freaky visuals that respond to the music. (It's like youre tripping, but sober-I haven't have the pleasure yet of being fkd-up and looking @ that cool shiat, so imagine if you're actually tripping and watching that shiat!!! wwwwhhhoooowwweee!!!!

Goddamnit!!!!!
I finally found a Ministry of Sound cd @ some music store. I asked the dumbfuck who took care of me if that was the same as the track that I mentioned above.. of course he said yes..
I paid $40+ for fuckn' 70s disco music... **BARF**. I could've rolled 3 times w/ that shiat.
Fuck those jerkoffs who want to put Napster down. I must have saved hundreds of $$ sampling shit that sucks.
Im returning that piece of shit... fuck the no-return policy.

i am going to name a different sub-genre of trance- pop trance- anything by Ministry of Sound or Gatecrasher, PVD, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, ATB- it may make you feel warm, but it doesn't make you think
