Mushrooms & Visuals

I've never hallucinated on mushrooms, or not at least what I consider to be hallucinations. Things morph, swirl, melt, and jiggle although I never see apparitions or anything resembling what isn't there. With that being said, I love mushies. I don't take them for the visuals as much as I do for the way they make your brain work, and how they make you think everything in life will just work out, the world is beautiful, etc.

Different types of shrooms = different types of effects, and depending on the dosage you won't get the effects you may have hoped for. But if you couldn't handle what you took that day I would suggest being careful and weighing out your dosages.

Apparently it can happen in low doses. It has never happened to me.

I have some friends who have taken both mushrooms and LSD at separate times, and they had real mushrooms and acid and they just don't see any visuals at all.

Some people just recieve little to no visuals from certain psychedelics or all of them. It could also be like Resin said and you are insensitive to tryptamines. If I were you if its possible I would try to find a more visual psychedelic and see where it takes you. You shouldn't soak them in lemon juice though as it won't do what you want it too.

apparently soaking it in lemon juice makes the come up a lot faster and stronger and more visual. ive read some reports saying that its like taking three times the dose of shrooms. like 5 grams feels liek 15g

I've never heard anything about lemon juice potentating Psilocybin. Lemon juice can be used in different teas to keep a desired compound from oxidizing, but other than that idk any use for it. Taste maybe...
Dark chocolate does contain a weak MAOI that potentiates Psilocybin.

The fact that your friends had more visuals than you did doesn't necessarily mean they were tripping harder. Even using the same dose of a synthetic psychedelic I've had a lot of variance in how visual trips are between doses. I think it's just about how much of a psychedelic gets to the visual processing components of the brain, not overall sensitivity, and that amount probably varies according to innumerable influences we'll probably never figure out.

LSD was very visual for me as a teenager; now it's less visual and more emotional -- and if I could only have one effect or the other I'd keep the emotional side of it. Open eye visuals are just one component of the psychedelic experience, and in my opinion they're relatively boring (closed eye symbolic visions on the other hand are endlessly fascinating). I understand the desire of someone who hasn't tripped very much to actually experience all the things they've heard their friends talking about, but really the visuals are just the most salient features of the trip, and so they're the easiest to talk about and remember. In other words they get all the advertising even though they're not that important. I don't think you should be too disappointed. Your "I'm alive" moment sounds like an experience that has far more power to reshape your mind than geometric patterns do.

I know quite a few people who experience little to no visuals from mushrooms (at doses around 2-3 gram dried), while personally even on a dose lower then that I have quite significant visuals, with colour enhancement, moving objects and patterning; although less bright, less neon, less detailed and more blurry visuals then for example on LSD; still not less intense, just quite different.

I personally think that people who get no real visuals on mushrooms use doses that are too low for them? And they just didn't go past the treshhold to produce visuals for them?

my "im alive" moment is something i want to relive though. i didnt pay enough attention to it and lost it in the chaos of tripping out and freaking out. I had the feeling that I was not just another entity but i am alive. and got me curious about what/who was perceiving my reality. like my eyes are inputting a visual signal, my ears are inputting audio etc, all of that must be displayed on what i could equate to a TV screen in my head that something inside me is watching and reacting/emoting to. but what is it that is watching? if it was nothing i wouldnt feel emotions, i would be a robot, could it be a soul.

But its been puzzling me since i thought about it.
But i still want to see my geometric patterns haha

The intensity of visuals I get varies radically, I've found it depends mainly on my state of mind and I'm learning to control it to some extent.

I had a very visual first experience on psychedelics, and for the next couple of years, in which I tripped some 30 times, I had almost no visuals at all. I also went through a rough time of my life in that period, with mild depression and neurotic tension and anxiety. I was somewhat afraid of the psychedelic experience and I tended to try to hold on to my reference points and cling to my sober ways of thinking. The trips almost always pushed me towards a confused, dreamy state of mind where my own thoughts were suffocating me and I felt like I was fighting to stay awake and at the same time I was unable to sleep.

Lately, my life and myself have improved greatly, I have renewed confidence in life and on trips, I've found that if I have the faith to just let go of myself and surrender to the experience, all the thoughts and worries in my head pass through me and behind me, the mental confusion and tension lift like a fog and I am free to enjoy the world. And the world that usually on trips was an unclear blur, seen through the haze of my neurosis, comes alive, clear and sparkling and the visuals start to manifest out of the woodwork, sometimes literally.

At first I noticed these differences depending on the state of spirit I was when tripping, but lately I've started learning to 'let go' at will. I've had more visuals in the last ten trips or so than I had had before in years of tripping, not to mention altogether happier, more profound and satisfying trips than ever before.

On my first time, the apparitions didn't kick in until after I smoked some grandaddy purp. And there were only two solid, good ones.

Dude, you're not missing out on much. The geometric patterning is interesting for like, 30 seconds, and then it just becomes distracting. Consider yourself blessed to have an intact perception of the world during the psychedelic experience.

It varies from trip to trip. Enjoy the headfuck till the visions come if they do. I really enjoy the entirety of the mushroom experience. Visuals are a rare treat for me :(

I feel that mushrooms can give the most radical and fake/impossible looking distortions a drug can give on the right trip. An eighth with a case of nitrous had me beyond visually confused the last time I shroomed, probably some of the most intense visuals out of a total of 200+ psych/dis experiences.

I Find the most distortion i get with mushrooms is tactile. I often feel like i'm sinking into the floor/bed or fusing with objects.

Auditory hallucinations are pretty strong as well especially on good dosages. Like you said you had the 'Rosetta Stoned' type thing going on. I've heard tones that I interpreted as being from alien sources trying to contact me on mushrooms.

Visually I've taken up to 5 grams and had little visuals except color enhancement and patterning and on that 5 gram trip the dirt kind of looked like bugs for a few moments. I recommend LSD or 2ce for more visual fireworks and stronger synesthesia too.

Thats exactly what i did. I only recently realised that i shouldve let go. I felt that feeling where i lost my feeling of self, i felt beyond human like i was nothing and i was afraid of that feeling. it made me feel that if i died i wouldnt even know it and felt terrified of what COULDve happened in that state rather then embracing the dehumanisation. i tried to think logically and to, as you said, cling to my sober ways of thinking.

Maybe my emotional anchors kept me grounded in a non visual state. Im really keen on a repeat performance in a more controlled environment though. Still waiting for it to rain, its season but it hasnt the rained yet. when it does im going hunting

And that lemon tek, basically (from what i understand is). By soaking it in acidic lemon juice, it converts the Psilocybin in the mushroom to Psilocybe, which, apparently, is responsible for the visual aspects of the trip. the reaction normally occurs in the acidic environment of the stomach. the difference is that in a glass you can control how long it sits in the acid for i.e. how long it will have to convert the alkaloids, where as in the stomach most of the mushroom passes through undigested

This is just what ive read and understood, i cant verify that its true.

if im less sensitive to the visuals in tryptamines, does that mean that DMT will be less visual for me as well?

I think your dose was plenty high enough for mushroom visuals. you said you thought there were hundreds of people in the fast food place... i would call that a visual?

you might be "trying too hard" for the visuals to kick in.

most notably, being in a public space or well-lit (fluorescent) area can KILL mushroom visuals.

you said you wanted to "see music"... did you listen to music at all? lol.

next time you trip, stay in a comfortable, dimly lit room. experiment with closing your eyes for five minutes, and try to get in tune with your mind's eye. this will help you see the open-eye visuals better. when you open your eyes, don't look around at things. just stare into the middle distance and try not to blink. eventually you should see colors and swirls begin to form among your visual field.

if the above tips don't help, then maybe mushrooms are not for you and you should try a 2c-x as they are incredibly visual with the right set, setting, and dose.

as far as dmt goes, you'll never know until you try :)
