Mushrooms Solo

Hey all, new guy here.

I have the house to myself tomorrow and no trip guide or babysitter available.

I'm planning to do about 3g of mushroom tomorrow in a dark room, with a nice playlist, lots of water. I also plan to set an intention which I haven't quite nailed down yet.

I also have Bipolar II disorder. It's well-managed but I have heard that BP shouldn't even take mushrooms at all. I have in the past and the only bad experience I've experienced was in the wrong set and setting.

I'm excited and a little scared but I think I need to do this to work out some issues.

Is there anything I'm missing that I need to look out for?

What type of meds do you take for bipolar? What meds do you take at all actually?

I take lamotrigine. It hasn't interacted or impeded microdosing or light trips. I did talk to a bonafide doctor who said that it was safe to take psychedelics with lamotrigine and also a shaman.
 
How much experience do you have with psilocybin? Have you tried this batch before? 3g of some batches isn't impressive, while 3g of another batch could be overwhelming.

Gotcha. I have about a gram of Penis Envy and maybe two grams of an unknown variety. I took a gram of the unknown a couple of weeks ago and it was very good, very calm, and visual.

Edit* I have a fair amount of experience, more so with LSD than psilocybin but up until a couple of weeks ago, it had been over a decade before I last tripped.
 
I feel like you have very little to worry about. You aren't one of those types that gets uncharacteristically hyper or confrontational while on shrooms, are you? Because if any psychedelic drug has had you in a manic state, yelling nonsense in public or jumping on the hoods of police cars.....Well, maybe a solo trip isn't for you. Conversely,if your experience with psychedelic drugs trends towards the typical trips that countless individuals have every day, then I suggest to go for it. Just a couple things you should prepare ahead of time, for those "just in case" things. Tell someone you trust that you plan to do this. If it's a friend who truly cares about you, they'll gladly answer the emergency phone call, should you need to make one. The day before, eat healthy and drink lots of fluids, get plenty of sleep.Just pre-trip double check Spotify or whatever music app you use so that you're confident your tripping mind will successfully locate your favorite playlists when the mood strikes you. As someone who has WAY too many playlists, but only really LOVES a handful of them, it sucks tripping hard and scrolling through all these playlists that just don't make sense while my favorite music seems to be hiding. And if course, as others have mentioned, get comfortable. There's no strict formula here, just be yourself and sit, recline, lay, whatever feels best. I like to solo trip in my bed, but I could imagine a comfy recliner being nice.

I'd also like to bring up a point that even if you are not very experienced, I truly feel that 3gs of dried cubes is nothing to be afraid of. 3gs is like giggling with the friends while thumbing through a cookbook that somehow is written in an alien language. Those days were over 15 years ago now. Back then, while tripping as a group, an eighth was my unspoken limit. And yes, these doses can have quite intense peaks, but I've always found that opening my eyes, checking in my friends and reorienting with my surroundings always worked to bring be back around to the knowledge that I was still here and I was still me.

I took a long break from mushrooms and now I'm using them again. Completely solo this time and pushing the dose quite high. Going over a quarter (7gs) is exactly the kind of mind-fuck I'm looking to achieve. I've gone as high as 10 and it was damn near in the same level of a DMT flash. With these big ones, I never feel the need to do them more than once every 2 or 3 months.

The reason I related those facts was so you'd see that 3gs shouldn't be that scary. Since it seems you're saying it's safe with your meds, then that's one less worry. However, it's never a bad idea to have poison control in speed dial in the rare event that something unexpected, like a food new to your diet, throws a monkey wrench in your metabolism. I think you'll enjoy yourself tripping alone. And shrooms are like the perfect length for an evening trip and still to bed at a decent hour. Also, I wanted to point out that my experience written above shows there was quite a gap between my "less than an eighth/young adult party mushroom days" and my "choke down 10gs, turn off the lights and get ready to soar". I feel like it just sort of revealed itself to me and I knew I was ready to go deeper with shrooms and that I wanted to go there alone and see it all without distractions. Just happened to be my late 30s when this urge struck me and I'm not afraid to admit that my dumbass teenage self would NEVER been prepared to gain anything useful from these big trips.

Next opportunity, I'm going to take the previous day to rest up and prepare myself mentally.

Good call. Its always best to go into a trip in a positive mindset, especially if you're planning to trip alone. Hangover trips tend to be negative, I learned the hard way, I'm glad you had the foresight to avoid that situation👍

I read about the strain I'm taking and it's 30-50% more potent than average so my dose will be closer to 4-5 grams, effectively. Wow, I'm nervous but I'm approaching this reverently without expectations and setting an intention.

I'm also working on a playlist. My preferred music is classical, mostly from the Baroque era, but it can be quite intense and very emotional for me. So I'm making a backup playlist of lighter classical and neutral ambient.

I have two friends on speed dial and a friend in the building who I'm going to ask to be ready to come over should I need reassurance.

Wish me luck and any more advice/thoughts would be appreciated. I embark in about four hours.

My recommendation is to get outside where no one is, being trapped in a room/house can kinda ruin my trip.

I feel like what is important is that you are able to constantly look at new scenery, it brings new deep thoughts as you look at different things, also tech kinda ruins it, musics okay but screen looking is terrible imo

I tripped solo a month ago walking down a creek/river and it was pretty fantastic, did the solo thing again but at home a month later and ended up feeling pretty uncomfortable, had to like get into the shower every half hour
 
like above said, I almost always start outside and make my way back home b4 it fully kicks in, like I'd go to the fair grounds when it started kicking it and getting anxious is head home, I'm sure u prob already have a plan tho
 
I live in a busy neighbourhood and the chance that I could run into a neighbour are quite high. That could be unpleasant. Plus, I'm used to being alone as I grew up a bit of an introvert. We also have a patio but it's surrounded by other peoples' balconies. In a pinch that'll do for a change of scenery although I suspect that at this dosage the plant might create some scenery for me.

I agree, outdoors is far nicer ime/o. Inside can get a bit overwhelming, although I do find watching TV (not tv specifically but watching anything) can settle a mindfuck and gives you something else to focus on rather than my own thoughts during past solo trips that got a bit too heavy.
 
It was fantastic. I see the world differently now, or maybe the way I was always supposed to see it. I'm going to post a trip report elsewhere.

I was a bit concermned that you might start to stress mid-trip about having a limited time-window, but I kept that anxiety to myself!

It was a concern that came up in the initial throes. Also, I went to change the music on my phone and there was a message from a potential employer (yikes) but there was a voice with me at all times, calming me, telling me not to worry but to be here now for the lessons I was about to be given...
