The mushrooms I found today have white stems of varying length. The tops range from a centimetre to half an inch and have brown to very dark brown nipples. I can't upload a photo. I was just wandering if anyone know if these are Psilocybin containing mushrooms and if so how they should look when dried.

Awesome, looks like Psilocybe Painticus.

Seriously!? You don't have a camera on your phone or something?

It's not possible to ID from that drawing. If you can't post a pic maybe you could compare it to pictures online. Though even if you do think you find a match I wouldn't recommend eating them in case they're not what you think.

But if you're in the UK you should be looking for liberty caps, which are fairly distinctive.

Go to your library and look up some identification guides for mushrooms in your area. I'm sure you'll discover that there are NUMEROUS identifying features of mushrooms that you never even thought to think about, and you will have to be far more careful in your observations of wild fungi in the future.

Also check out mycotopia.net, they have an avid mushroom hunting community and several experts who can help you out with habitat and other identifying characteristics.

Ok. Thanks. I was fairly certain their are no poisonous psilocybin look alikes in the UK.

its better to be safe than sorry...
