The trip of my life using psilohuasca
Voyagers/participants: A, B and C Date: 1st November 2003
Timeset: 22:30-22:50 (ingestion)
Astral event/phase of moon:1st phase
Dose: 50g fresh psilocybe cubensis and 3.5g Syrian rue (peganum harmala) a good source of harmaline which is an active MAOI when ingested. The mushrooms were made into “magic chocolate”, Syrian rue was place in vegi-caps for which we had to compensate for.
Setting: Rural village, in a tent in freezing temperatures
The Syrian rue was ingested two hours prior to taking the mushrooms to compensate for the use of vegi-caps which take a while to break down. We relaxed in the tent smoking a hookah pipe preparing for the mushrooms. I wanted to take them as early as possible as we were in for an intense trip. Both of my friends had tripped with me on previous occasions so I was confident in being able to handle and control the situation.
At 22:30 we commenced drinking the magic chocolate from the thermas flask, when I prepared them the water used to make the magic chocolate was a kind of browny-purple tinge. I was pretty confident that we were in for a strong trip as we were also using MAOIs in the form of Syrian rue this prediction was proved correct. After drinking the broth we left the tent to go into the nearby village. This trek through the village is a ritualistic occurrence as my friend and I had tripped there from our very first trip. We then decided to walk to the nearby river. As we walked to the benches on the edge of the river the mushrooms came on really fast and by the time we sat down we had entered another reality. I became aware of my friends irrational and anti-social behaviour and it occurred to me that I may of given them too much and experienced some dark and disturbing thoughts. My friend puked up on the grass and then lied down, C on the other hand was perfectly fine and I was bringing to get to grips with the state I was in. The temperature was freezing and as I gazed into the stars the cold was not a feeling it was a deep emotion that seemed to be piercing into me from the coldness of space. When B said he couldn’t move and thought he was going to have stay there all night I knew that only bad things could happen and I urged everyone to get back to the tent but failed on several occasions. When I finally convinced them we headed back for the tent, my legs felt jagged and poisoned.
When we had reached the tent I lunged into it smacking one of the pole on the way. I switched my torch on and the intensity form outside had ceased to exist, we had been outside approximately and hour and I think we must of experienced ego-loss. My friend and I talked about the experience and how it had just shown us a window to another realm. I have concluded that in our time outside we had been liberated form our egos and that entering the tent provided a safe and stable environment that cut off most of our stimulus which allowed us to make sense of the situation in hand. All three of us engaged into a deep philosophical discussion for the period of five hours that meant so much to us at that point but on retrospect I cannot pin-point anything that would be worth writing. In our discussion we thought about our friends and relatives in a deep and meaningful way and as a result the trip has been very useful.
As far as visions were concerned going outside the bright orange street lamps emitted a large and warming aura, during the time we were in the tent I saw the tent as a large fluorescent green Aztec pyramid from inside and the back of Tom was morphing and melting. A nice finish to the trip was my torch that my friend was holding had taken a weird surreal look to it and was making great reflections, the smoke from the incense formed patterns around it I turned my head away partly and I could still see it with clarity and it was as if I was gazing with my third eye.
On comparison with my last trip the content was much more philosophical but still visual and was the best trip I have ever had. I can only assume we reached ego-loss as the understanding and comprehension of life we gained was phenomenal in this way we all had made a giant leap forward in our level of understanding. The effects of the Psilocybin lasted throughout the next day and I was feeling quite tired it amazed me at how powerful these mushrooms are, on going to the toilet the colour of my piss was not desirable and I assume this was the Psilocybin or Harmaline exiting from my system.
