I had my first psychedelic experience two days ago. Here is the reports, and some questions for you experts.
I took 1.7g (around 1/16oz) at 2am, in a dark and silent room (in bed, next to my girlfriend who was sleeping, but willing to offer assistance if needed). I mostly kept my eyes closed for the whole trip, which lasted until around 6am, when I finally fall asleep.
Having never taken any psychedelic before (nor any drug, even marijuana), the experience was impressive to say the least. It started 45 minutes after ingestion by beautiful closed eyes visuals, geometric at first, and quickly appeared faces (sad, joyful, crying, laughing, shouting, all of that silently), objects, arts pieces (mostly African), figurative animal representation, decorated temple walls, all of them moving extremely fast. It was impossible for me to see any one of them for more than 2 or 3 seconds, everything was too fast and chaotic, but still beautiful.
So my first question is, is it that fast moving for everyone ? Can you, with some experience, "freeze" the flow ? Look at one in particular in details ?
After that stage, I entered a succession of mini-dreams, each of them lasting no more than a minute, and sometimes less than 20 seconds. I was semi-able to control them. If I were to open my eyes, they would instantly stop, but would restart as soon as I closed them. They would start somehow two dimensional, and quickly become 3D if I were to direct my full attention on them, which was ... very nice. Kind of the dreams you can have when at the frontier between wakefulness and sleep, but with a "stop and reinitialize" button
My second question is, can you learn to direct those ? Or is it preferable to learn to NOT direct, and let your unconscious speak ?
My last experience happened later during the night, and was very touching, completely strange but seemed, at the time, perfectly non frightening and normal: I felt, for 2 or 3 minutes, a partial fusion of my consciousness with the one of my girlfriend, sleeping next to me.
I was totally non prepared for what, but it seemed so natural, it was not scary at all. I was able (or I hallucinated that I was able
) to feel what she feels (when awake - not in the sleeping state she was actually in), how she thinks, how it is for her to laugh, and I was seeing the things we were discussing (in that particular 2-3 minutes dream sequence) from her point of view, and from mine at the same time. It was as if I was in my own mind thinking and feeling, and also in her, listening to her thoughts and feeling her reactions to what I said. And vice versa. At the time I felt that I was not "me" anymore but that we were "us", a new entity which was a fusion of our two selves. It was quite beautiful, touching
but also confusing, up to the point that I asked to myself:
"Am I (my name), who took mushrooms, and who is feeling (her name)'s mind ? Or am I (her name) who took mushrooms, feeling (my name)'s mind ?"
For several seconds, I was not sure anymore
Then I concluded I was me
I can quite understand now what people mean by saying they "fuse" with their surroundings. Did it already happen to some of you to fuse with someone who was close by ? Or not close, even ?
I will definitely explore again this incredible plant, now that my fear (of the experience) is greatly diminished. I will probably use a similar dosage for the next trip, because the effects were already quite powerful (even though I had very few open eyes visuals or distortion, compared to what I was expecting). I guess they were that powerful due to the setting, darkness, silence and eyes closed ? I welcome any comments, tips, hints or story that you feel like to share !
