Yesterday i ate 2gm of dried powdered psilocybe mexicana mushrooms along with my friend who ate 1gm. I had no effects other than dialated pupils but he was tripping balls. I've heard that NN-DMT has a tolerance with LSD, and psilocybin is an analogue of DMT is it not? I had taken approx 80mcg of LSD 2 days before, is there any way this may have stopped the effects?

I once had a friend tell me he ate shrooms every day for 2 weeks, and at the end, nearly went insane.

I just rolled my eyes and said "intense".

DMT isn't especially cross tolerant with LSD, at least from animal studies, as it doesn't induce much tolerance in the first place.

But LSD and psilocybin cross tolerance sounds like a sure thing [1, 2].

^^^it probably has to do with down-regulation of 5-HT2A receptors and their signaling (1), so that there is not as much receptor there for the subsequent dose to act upon.

is it possible to build up a tolerance off only shrooms themselves?

Yes, you can get tolerance from shrooms, or any 5-HT2A agonist psychedelic, alone. I would hypothesize (and there is evidence for this from human studies done during the 60's/70's) that there is cross-tolerance between most hallucinogens acting at the 5-HT2A receptor. Mescaline and I think DOB and DOM display this, but I don't know whether any other phenethyamines have been tested.

I've never used any of the mescaline analogs, so I wouldn't know from personal experience, but I'm assuming these drugs have certain effects on dopamine and norepinephrine due to their structure. Would it be possible that after using mescaline continuously for say two weeks that the psychadelic effects would completely wear off and the drug might resemble amphetamine in its effects? I'm under the impression that phenethylamine derived drugs don't show any tolerance effects as far as norepinephrine.
