Hello peeps, going hunting for some gold tops and Gymns on friday in Perth, western australia. It's been raining really heavily (storms) so i was wondering the chance of finding some? Also, what are some pointers to help me identify them (Spore print, stems, veil colour, what do they grow on ect)?

Help would be appreciated :)

I wasn't pointing the finger at anyone in particular, I was offering general advice to the community here - there's no need to ridicule me or get all defensive or whatever. A lot of newbie pickers seem to think the best way to collect mushrooms is to rip them out of the ground - IT'S NOT! Pictures like that don't help, so it's important to let people know there is a better way of doing things.

this works?

Mushrooms are sacred things way more sacred than most things so they should be treated with respect and care.

Errm what are gold tops? My gf bought one at myers once, I told her not to wear it when shes out with me, I dont like the look of it :P haha on a serious note though if ur referring to cubensis or other species you are more likely to find some during this time of the year although I dont live in Perth im not exactly too sure when the seasons kicks in fully.

Shroomery would be a good place to start your research, just make sure you are familiar with what you are looking for and have an experienced picker with you at all times to ensure you dont pick the wrong ones. They grow on anything from cow/horse dung to woodchips, just remember that they live in nutrient rich environments with plenty of moisture. The spore prints of cubes are usually blackish/purple when dropped.

You can't say something is way more sacred than something else, I'm sure a Christian wouldn't see Vishnu as sacred as Jesus but it doesn't make it so.
People should know not to rip up mushrooms, and to leave pins that haven't dropped their veil/spores. It's very common knowledge, and if you're confident enough to eat a wild mushroom you should have the knowledge of how to remove them from the ground and ensure the patch lives instead of raping it and trampling over it and just generally being a disrespectful cunt.
There seems to be this 'every man for himself' attitude these days, probably given the fleeting nature of mushroom hunter there is a big level of uncertainty pertaining to what the state of the patch will be like when you return and as well as the effort to get there if you don't live near by coupled with the fleeting. It just creates this vicious cycle of 'other people are disrespectful so me being disrespectful is futile' which is no fucking excuse for the absurd behaviour. If you want mushrooms, raping patches will stop you from getting them.
Leave pins, leave mycelium, look where you step as to be sure you don't trample the shrooms. Watch out for the governments gang of hooligans in blue.

@monstersquad: you are very, very unlikely to find psilocybe subaeruginosa growing wild in perth, if that is what you mean by "gold tops".

if you want tips on finding active shrooms in south western australia, www.shroomery.org is the best place to go for information.

we could give you the "basics" but that would a) not be enough information and b) be repeating what has already been said many times in this thread and others like it.
if you spend an afternoon searching online you will find all the information you need, but if you are planning to eat wild picked mushrooms, you are going to have to be very confident in your identification methods.
the folks at the shroomery are happy to ID mushrooms for you (for the purposes of safety) but that is against the bluelight user agreement.

really, there is too much info required for us to give it to you in a concise manner. if you are keen, there are plenty of good information resources online.

Another unsuccesful hunt today. I did however, find a small A. Muscaria. I just put it in the oven on the lowest it could go with the door open for about half an hour. No juices came out so I just ate it. It's probably been 3 hours now and I definitely feel different. I would have loved to find enough for a trip, or some subs, or both.

Whats the larges mushroom any of you guys have picked?
A mate of mine picked a sub that is about 8 inch's long, I was very sus on it and told him he should prob send a pic to shroomery to be safe, I've never seen one so big but it looked the goods to me.

Domokun, if you're willing to drink your own urine repeatedly you can probably have a successful Amanita trip. If you drink enough water, you pretty much piss water. The body turns ibotenic acid into muscimol then you piss out a large amount of pure muscimol. And so on and so forth. There's a cult in Siberia that sit around drinking each other's piss. Shamans used to piss into a cup. To be given that cup of piss was a great honour.

Or you could just find a pine forest somewhere. Where there are pine trees, there are Amanitas.

bahahahahaah. Great honour to be given a cup of piss???
fucken gold!

do you have the link or like videos to this cult bro?

I think, this weekend is time to have my first mushy trip of the season/year :D

def gonna less thrash it this year :)
I know i say this every year but i'ma try better this year hehe.
Will be spreading out the trips to like once every 2weeks at least or even longer.
Last year I was doing once every week or so, even that was still not long enough cuz after a while, the negative side effects got more and more and then positive effects were diminished etc :)

I got one the other day that was around 5-6 inches, definetly a sub.
There pritty easy to identify when there that big, usually got big blue patches throughout the cap.
