Mushroom Season 2012

More finds today! Northern Melbourne Suburbs.

Found alongside a main road, which is very busy. There was a bit of rain last night, but i was not expecting anything at all considering it was almost 30 degrees yesterday. I'm quite puzzled :S

These are the same as the ones i found last week, posted earlier in the thread, and are definitely inactive.

I found ones exactly the same, reason I didn't pick them?? They ain't blue or turning blue after picking them. Look the same as what we get hear, but no blue.

Had an argument with some guy at a party that you could find blue meanies (panoleous cyancscens) here in SE QLD.
God these taste so horrible, makes the puke come up into my throat and burn.

Anyways, I ate a few and fell asleep, I woke up in the middle of the night tripping balls.
Always realllly weird when you do that.

^^Its all good, we only get one type (as me and my mates know of) that you can get from round here.

Saying that, this up coming season is my 10th as an avid picker.

It's all good.

i've been told that all this rain has made for a good early head start.

today i checked out some familiar patches far west of the Blue Mountains (NSW),
and i am very pleased to report back of our success!!
we brought back about a handful or two each..
they weren't found everywhere in the forest (as it is extremely early still), so it was a bit difficult to spot them..
but i can only imagine that the season will get better and better in 2012.

I figured as much, although we got a bit of rain last week (or the week before?) I think it's still too hot, but maybe we'll get an earlier winter?
Are you planning on hunting this season?

the rain now/last week/week be4/ etc etc doesn't really effect the season or trigger it to start early.

Unless, the temp drops to single digits celcious and rainfall continues etc

you should wait a little longer..
they will definitely be out there, but in such small numbers that it may not be worth your time.
i think another 2 weeks and it should be kicking off nicely.

^ Pretty sure QLD season is during the warmer months. I have only picked in melbourne though so I could be off.
