Mushroom Season 2011 UK / Ireland / Anywhere else

Other than that, I prefer after lunchtime, on a breezy, pref sunny, but cold day...after a few days of rain and damp.

This is just because it's so much easier to spot the little fuckers. When the grass is covered in dew, first thing in the morning, the shrooms are a fairly dark brown colour, and quite hard to spot....after some sun and breeze, they start to dry out a bit, and go light brown, cream, even near white, you can sometimes spot all the patches from the top of the field if conditions are right, also sunshine highlights them, again, making them easier to spot.

Also easier and quicker to get them home and dried in good condition, if you have a bagfull of very wet brown shrooms they can all sort of congeal and squash into each other, and obviously a lot more moisture to dry out......

Plenty of people will prob disagree with me, but, unless you are using a known spot, there is no need for an early morning/dawn raid, in fact it would be counter productive

Yeah, this sort of makes sense. I guess I'm looking at picking in the morning as its been extremely dry down here in the south east. We've had one days rain in about 10. Since mushrooms are over 90% water, im pretty sure i'll not be able to see them at the moment unless there is some moisture about. I think this is the only time i've ever hoped for rain.
 
Just back from "trying" to find some, found 2 libs and thats it, is the season gone? i was finding tonnes of the mushrooms that look like libs but they're slightly lighter in colour and you can see the gills through the cap
 
I found this guy yesterday on a walk, not 100% on the identification though due to being colour blind.
Im going again today and then bringing them to my mate for confirmation.

On friday night me an me mate took my dried mushys(bout 420 small 1s) this would be our 4th trip this season. this was my first time dring an freezing them we made enough for bout 2 big cups each.The come up was very lite hitting at first but then it hit really nice an strong bout an hour in i suggested half a hoffman each to try it out.At first my mate didnt think it was a good idea but came round 2 it 5 mins later an hour in al is good triping my tits off suddenly iv hav to puke which i do every time i do mushys. When i come out off the jacks an walk in to the living room my mate is curled up on the sofa with this evil look on his face telln me to stay away from em or he's going to kill me, i started lauging thinking he was messing but keep sayn it. Then he got up off the sofa an went into the kitchen i gave em a min then followed him in an asked em wat was up he said i was wat was wrong with him, he then went back in the living room an picked up a sissors an went behind the curtin an was sayn to him self, hes no worth it hes not worth. I freaked out an went over to him grabed the sissors an told em to get out me gaff if he was going to go on like that, i didnt want to fuck em out but the way he was he was so unpredicable an the evil look in his eye i didnt no wat he would do. he left anyway an on his way out tried to grad the sisors off the table.
Iv been doing mushys any other drugs with this mate for years an he's never being like this he fucking freaked right out.
he came back to my gaff bout hour later asking me wat been going on with him that he had jus snaped out off it he was walking around not knowing anything. He was really shaking up about it an was nearly crying, fucked up or what. We sat up the rest of the night doing speed an pills ha.

liberty caps dont flourish until there has been a frost - then look for fields of sheep - I use to live in somerset and we would pick 1000's of the critters and dry most and put a load in honey as well (excellent presrvative)

I could be wrong, but that doesn't sound right to me.
I've always been under the impression that the first few frosty nights of the year bring an end to the season.
 
I think a couple of frosts are ok.. We just need some good rains.. :/

The things is.. I dont think anyone has done a rain dance this year?? Do you know anyone who has done the honours?
Lets just go out in our gardens tonight when noones looking and do a bit of a shamanic
give us some rain dancing!!

Perhaps then God will give us a week of rains.

I saw a lovely nearly crashed my car kind of rainbow today actually.. just really wimpy rain with it.
