Mushroom Season 2011 UK / Ireland / Anywhere else

The fields we used are in Carlton, Blackpool in Lancashire. :D What should I do with my mushies and how many should I use?
 
Morning all,

Can anyone tell me what would be considered a normal/typical season for mushrooms in the british isles? I'm in the channel islands if that makes any difference, so maybe slightly warmer on average here compared to the rest of the uk. Planing on hopefully venturing out tomorrow afternoon.

Never picked or consumed before.

They tend to appear later in the south from what i've heard due to the slightly warmer climate.
 
Right so i found around about 10 amanita muscrias completely by chance while mountain biking up in wicklow ireland ... From what i have heard there fairly rare and can be lovely and trippy .. as im currently living at home with me auld pair i cant do em so im just wondering whats the best way to store em and also what sort of dosage and method of taking would get the best effect ... And i know they make you get sick :P ... Any help would be much appreciated ... thanking you
 
Might be worth doing a bit of research on erowid or maybe the shoomery, not sure. I've heard they give more of a benzo hit than a traditional psychedelic
 
Thanks for the link to that erowid site.. It was seriously handy ... Bit sketchy about taking these as i have heard alot of mixed reports but seems like they found me so it would be an insult to the mushrooms not to =D ... I'll get back on here for a report on em ....
 
Absolutely fuck all still up in NE. I've found about 40 through the whole damn season. Bi-polar weather >.>
 
Anyone one in Ireland finding anything at the moment?

Going to head up to my spot on sat to have a good luck but don't want to be waisting my time, again!

Please get them ID'd before eating!

If I remember rightly, Amanita Muscaria has some rather poisonous lookalikes. Telling them apart is something to do with rings in the base of the stem.

Avoid if I was you,there are no particular issues with misidentifying lib lookalikes in a pasture mushroom, I always thew convincing ones in the bag to no ill affect, some of the Panaeolus family members are active to a lesser degree, but I have tripped by eating one of the varieties more or less exclusively, this was pre internet and I had difficulty in correctly identifying the exact species at the local library.

Woodland mushrooms are an all together different thing altogether and all should be avoided whether for dietary or recreational reasons unless you are confident of their identity. That is not to say that you can eat all pasture mushrooms that resemble libs with absolute impunity.

You can dry them in the oven on a low heat.. leave the door open a bit so some moisture comes out. Dry them as soon as you get them because they get really maggoty v quickly.. They can make you feel really sick. Ive had extraordinary revelations on them
( mixed with dxm ) but I threw up projectiley to get them.

On balance there are substances easier on the head and stomach.

Some people have said they are just like valium .. but I found them really powerful as others seem to have from trip reports. Maybe depends on the shrooms * shrug * dunno.

They wont be insulted but respect them!!

Yeah i have them out drying under a light as i cant get access to an oven ... Also have come down with the worst fucking flu i have ever experienced ... dont think trippin in this states such a good idea :p ... any easy method of preservation ?
 
Shrooms on bonfire night. yesssssss :D. I'm still off my face but the fireworks have stopped going off :(
 
Have 3 Fly Agarics drying right now, chopped up, on a thread hanging in my friend's kitchen.

Can't wait to join my celtic family on this wonderful (hopefully) experience... The last ones I dried got damp where I live, but they take AGES to fully decay - They're still there 2 weeks later!
 
Major frost hit last night, covering of frost clearly visible on everything when I woke up and temps were around -2'C outside. Sick :(
