Have never had mushrooms, but have had LSD and what i suspect was a DOx compound a year or so back. Am dying to try mushies, but cannot for the life of me find them! I thought out in a semi rural spot, a bit north of sydney, that they may be growing, but nope, only other wild mushies.

Though I did find a few death caps, eeep

The chance of finding subs north of Sydney are very slim.

For starters, it's still in the high teens to low 20's up that way and night temps aren't cold enough.

You may have some luck south of Sydney but i recommend waiting till mid June and heading south for subs or waiting for the P. Cubensis season in northern N.S.W. later this year

I know you do...

I have it out with northern hunters all the time 8)

Truth is, most psilocybe shrooms have a golden brown appearance and are called gold tops through-out the world....

Better than some of the idiots here that call blue meanies unopened baby cubes that go blue quicker than the larger ones that didn't have enough shade.

And yeah all mushrooms go goldish under the sun quickly anyway.

Gah. I am no where near northern nsw. Im just south of Newcastle.

I used to live in the semi rural spot i went hunting, had many a pine tree out the front of my place, had a few wild mushies growing there from what I remember , going to check there soonish. Gotta be something around here!

Here to say that Southern Tassie is going off its tits.

found a new patch today and leaving anythiung under the size of a twenty cent peice still pulled a few hundred......

good times

happy hunting kids and remember, sustainable picking equal good times for all!

i think its season to let off steam eh.
not gone hunting yet but i think after last night they will be sproutin like weeds, gonna go portsea for a hunt sometime this weekend i hope or maybe next and see what the go is

redskittle not 100% sure but they could be gallerina autumnalis and trust me, you don't want to eat them. Deadly toxic. Even if they aren't, I personally wouldn't touch any fungus growing directly from a large piece of wood. Mulch yep, big hunk of wood/trunk nope.

Go to www.shroomery.org for ID threads, we don't tend to do them herebouts.

had a good days picking on Sunday, and still left hundreds of pins for later!

First finds of the season!
Found 4 rather large subs in a new area. I'm guessing they are from last weeks rains. There were a few pins near by but I decided I'd rather let them grow to harvest next time. In a pretty secluded area in the mountains, I've found my new (and hopefully untapped) source.

Anybody have luck in western syd/blue mountains lately?
My friends went for a hunt yeaterday but returned empty handed.
Got some decent rainfall overnight and it's still coming down a bit, good signs.

Wish me luck everyone, going on my 2nd hunt this arvo. Been a fair bit of rain and humidity around my area the last few days, going hunting in a semi rural spot, under some pine trees and cow paddocks.

God I hope I find some!

So, once you find a patch, do they keep growing there year after year? How do you pick sustainably?

^ Pretty much, make sure you don't pick small ones, let them drop their spores first, use scissors instead of ripping them from the ground and don't trample around the area too much or be wreckless.

Sustaining a patch is pretty much common sense, just don't trash it or rape it and it will be fine, Every spot I have ever found subs they came up at one point or another every year after, this is my this my 3rd year picking so maybe over longer periods they go away but I doubt it.

I find its fun to go find new patches all the time anyway, people will always get on to a patch eventually and sometimes you go to late and its been raped, it helps to have a lot of back ups so you don't get stung like that.

Hmm, I havent been able to find any resources on finding patches. Think Im going to just have to go trecking for a few hours.

At least itll get me away from this damn computer
