mushroom popularity

Those are common prices in USA for Cubes grown at home and even nasty picked wild cubes in bad condition that many in the Soothest USA and then sell to others. Yuck. While there happen to be over 26 species now known int he USA that contain psilocine and psilocybine. In the PNW, several varieties have been known at times to fruit all year long depending on the weather, new sodded lawns and landscapping services that fertilize weekly when they come to mow a lawn of a mulched garden bed box. Some species in the Pugot Sound area can product from 1 to 50 pounds or more in a specific place. People who pick those kind of patches sell cheap to get rid of them. Liberty caps grow commonly between Bandon, Oregon to Comix Valley in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. I use to pick between 12 to 3000 libs on a normal day in a single farm field of say five fenced off paddocks. Those shrooms amongst locals still sell at about $5 to $10 dollars a high. much cheaper than many who grow illicit shrooms. Most pickers in public places in the PNW of Psilocybe and related varieties are normally not ever bothered by local police who drive by and see you bent over on your knees on the ground. In the 1970s to 1980s, I was stopped at least once each year by police, questioning me about what I was doing. SOme wrote my name in the notebook, some took my shrooms, one told me he and his friends would have a cool shroom party the next weekend, one threatened me with arrest if I came into his district again and several in different years let me go with no hassle. IT is how you talk to them and never be greedy with what you are doing. Do not try to hide or lie to them. They may seem stupid to you, but are actually smart and they might asked, "What are you doing down there?" However, They already do know what you are up to. On two occasions I was told I had a lot of nerve bringing my son with me to pick drugs, and my boy said, "excuse me officer, those are not drugs, they are mushrooms. Drugs are what my mommy gets from her doctor." My kid was 12. But wild magic shrooms are cheaper and while I personally have been responsible for several dozen strains I developed in cultures and petri plates, I consider cubes to be, next to P. pelliculosa, the weakest of mushroom species because of the amount needed for a 4-6 hour experience.

mjshroomer

Its like pot. since I came form the 60s and haight-Ashbury and LA coffee house and head shop scene, pot to me is only worth $10.00 an ounce. I find it hard to call anyone my friend that would asked me to pay $200 to $600 dollars an ounce for a friggin bag of weed. One time in the late 1970s I purchased two dried ounces of cubes from a friend who published a grow guide and a field guide. I got about 5 doses out of each ounce and after that, I basically did not like or contribute for a long time to those who pushed cubes on friends at horrible prices.

And GolemGolem, $10 dollars a gram is about the average price for most cubes, however, it really takes 3-5 dried grams to be the equivelent of a Mazatec Ceremonial dosage.

Have a shroomy day

The potency, or strain I suppose, varies a LOT between batches tho. I could never tell what they are beyond being gold caps, having blue viens ect. Lettin you know the magic isnt gone!!

Nice rant mjshroomer! ;) I agree it all probably got just a bit too visible and commercial to last. Still, for a couple of years I got to enjoy a range of mushshroomy treats I'd most likely never have otherwise come across, like the Philippinos, so t'was good in that respect, but oh, how I miss them now. :(

I dunno what a fair price is or was. I forget exactly, but IIRC I had Mexicans available at around £10 / 20-30g fresh, which I did not like at all and only bought twice, once cos I didn't know I wouldn't like them, the second time just to see if I was unlucky with the head space the first time round, and Columbians / Philippinos at £10 / 10-20g fresh, which I loved, and nothing has touched since.

I was happy to pay that every so often cos it was that kind of profitability that made it worthwile for the guy that guaranteed my week-in, week-out supply, and a £10 voyage was properly worth every penny . . . £20-30 excursions on them were way out somewhere in a space beyond vast. Guess I was as responsible as the vendors for the prices in the end, given I was prepared to pay that. Capitalism in action folks . . . prices are set by what the market will bear! Was just getting round to looking at whether trying to grow my own was worthwhile given alleged failure rate of the kits going about when the ban kicked in and all the kits were pulled from the shelves. Oh noes! :(

It's true that synthetic mescaline isn't profitable and you'd have a hard time finding it. The thing that puzzles me is that with the natural source, yeah you have to drink horrible slime, but you had to do that in the '60s too. Have hippies lost their balls in the last few decades? I love san pedro, I think people are really missing out.

I'd love to know what Mescaline feels like. So much so I blended a shitload of Peruvian Torch up, boiled 'em for hours, and gulped the glue that was left. Actually, didn't find it nearly so bad as is often made out. Anyone used to drinking mushroom tea made from Liberty Caps fresh off the sheep fields shouldn't have a problem anyways . . . it's no worse! Unfortunately, a kilo of fresh wasn't enough to get much more than a mild buzz. :( Still more of a problem is the grow rate. I've had 6 Peruvian Torch on the go for over 18 months. One of them shot out a new limb this spring, but despite my best efforts at coaxing it along it's managed about 2 inches of growth all summer. The other 5 have done absolutely bugger all with the cactus food and summer sun. At this rate I hope to have something worth blitzing down sometime around 2015! ;)

People still go for shrooms in my area (live in city) no-one i know would ever buy any of anyone, but me and a few friends have been cruising down to a small part of forest and finding a few Agaric's

Also i heard people hitting the jackpot with liberty caps down in the new forest. Suppose it's really down to the person and the availability in there area?

Going by my own experience I suspect it's the influx in popularity of research chemicals and how easy it is to obtain them compared to traditional psychedelics. Prior to ever trying psychedelics I searched long and hard for wild mushrooms, asked around constantly for mushrooms and LSD, and although I found an LSD contact, something came up for me the day I was meant to buy some, and after that he stopped selling, I just seemed to have bad luck throughout.

Then one day someone showed me to a place I could obtain a few interesting RCs, I ended up purchasing some 4-AcO-DMT and having my first psychedelic experience that way.

To this day, although I have a wide knowledge of most of the more popular psychedelics, I have only ever tried 4-AcO-DMT and 2C-E.

I suspect the price plays it's part too, as I now do have a way to obtain LSD and DMT, but given that I'd be paying extortionate rates compared to the prices of RCs, I've never gone down that route. Yet. That said I'm planning to purchase some LSD soon when the occasion calls.
