mushroom question

I have been meaning to ask this question for awhile now. Are mushrooms not popular in the USA? I have read a couple news articles about mushroom busts and the cops always say the same, "we havnt seen mushrooms in years." It could just be my area, i have never heard of anybody doing shrooms around here. What about your area, are they popular?

no one does them
i haven't heard about a single "incident" since 1969 ;)
 
they seem fairly popular among college students, at the least the students at the school i got to. nowhere near as popular as alcohol or marijuana but among the drug using community virtually everyone i know has used mushrooms.
 
I don't see why they aren't popular. They are easier to produce than most other quality drugs.

i think the problem lies in the fact that they simply aren't addictive enough. lsd and mushrooms are nowhere near as profitable to sell as addictive drugs. you can easily buy enough to last you a year with one deal. if lsd and shrooms were very addictive i'm sure there would be no acid shortage and everyone would be growing shrooms.
 
Now that i think of it i think it might be because people underestimat shrooms, because when i ask a person if they can get mushrooms they say stuff like nah man im tryin to find acid or shrooms suck acid is better. But from what i hear they are 2 totaly differnt drugs.

weed certainly is addictive and even if you don't agree you have to admit many people use it in the same way as they would an addictive drug. no one consumes large amounts of mushrooms on a daily bases like stoners do with weed. lsd and mushrooms are much harder on the psyche than weed so of course less people are likely to use them/use them very often and there is no major tolerance issue like there is with weed.

Very true. They're coming around my area from San Diego right now, and the potency is insane. 1 or 2 grams = trip hard, and they are very popular. A pound comes into town and is gone in less than a week.
 
I know tons of people who do shrooms. I've started at least 20 people out with their first gooms. One of my friends was even hospitalized in vegas on vacation after passing out on the strip. Someone put him in a cab to the hospital, heh.. also, I read that some ignorant college kids were picking shrooms and ended up eating death caps, just last weekend. Sad.
 
They seem to have been popular all down North America's West Coast as soon as westerners figured out how to grow them

Mushrooms are popular all over the USA. You can't gather information about the popularity of recreational drugs based on drug busts. The paths LSD and mushrooms follow from manufacture to distribution to consumption are completely different from other illegal drugs. Profit is definitely a motive, but for the most part the distribution of the drugs is the same scene that consumes them. Trippers like to share the wealth, but outside of Phish shows and public parks full of skaters and trailer goths, they don't go publicly advertising their merchandise. It's hard for cops to investigate drug dealing when the source and the particular medium the drug is contained in varies widely from week to week (try buying blotter acid from someone for an extended period of time - chances are he's going to end up with sheets of different blotter at random intervals, sometimes being dry, sometimes having multiple types from multiple sources, and sometimes having liquid), and the sellers have established relationships with the buyers, they don't go out seeking new buyers constantly in an effort to boost profits.

The psychedelic drug scene is more of a careful community than the cocaine, marijuana, MDMA, etc. scenes. It's mostly off the radar of law enforcement.
 
^Very true coolio. That's what my dad has always said. Too bad all his friends stopped taking acid years and years ago, cause we could really go for some, heh. The one guy I knew who had mushrooms and lsd was a great guy who sold to me at the price he got the shit, which was dirt cheap because he bought in bulk. But nothing lasts forever, sigh.
 
about 50 of my friends have tryed them, the other friends want to try them, or atleast know about them and have access to them they are abundant in canada this year
 
They're popular in Oregon.

so true. I can get mushrooms any time of the week twice on sunday :) They are populare and reltivly cheap. The coast of oregon has many cow fields filled with them
