Mushroom Grow Kit Legality Question(s)

Hi all.
I'm thinking about buying my first Mushroom grow kit but it seems a lot of sites won't even ship to the US. I've researched a bit and found that it's not the grow kit itself that's illegal but selling it with instructions and such is. Can anyone tell me what's actually legal/illegal to buy when purchasing a grow kit? I found a site that has a Mexican Cubensis all-in-one grow kit but I can't find anywhere on the site that discusses whether or not it's legal in the US or if they can even ship to me and I don't want to make the mistake of buying one of these grow kits if it's just going to be confiscated at customs and waste a good bit of money. Any suggestions/info help is welcome. Thanks.

Mushroom grow kits are legal, but not if you use them to grow psilocybin mushrooms for consumption.

It depends on the growkit (at least in the UK). It's legal to buy a bag containing sterilised rye-grain, but a lot of the grow kits have been injected with spores so they come as mycelium which contains psilocybin.
