If you are in Mumbai, be careful how you experiment with your cooking. Think twice before adding vodka to your penne or rum to your cake, as a cop may come knocking at your door.

That’s what happened to 53-year-old Mumbai resident Preeti Chandrayani, the Mumbai Mirror reported Friday.

Ms. Chandrayani makes chocolates at home and some of them contain liquor. That was enough to reportedly push law enforcement officials to raid her house on Thursday and detain her overnight. Officials also apparently seized her recipe books.

sounds like New York at the beginning of the Giuliani administration. Was anyone there? You'd be forced to leave a bar if you were caught dancing.

"Officials also apparently seized her recipe books. " ahahahahhahahaha

Authoritarian shit like this makes me see red. I pray that karma is a real force in the universe and the religious, fanatical scum behind these kinds of laws get what's coming to them. People deserve to live freely.

In India some drug dealers sell candies laced with methaqualone or benzos. They're named after real liquors like rum, brandy, vodka, etc. They're sold to kids as an alcohol alternative or to thieves to drug and rob people. I don't think that is the case in this instance. Maybe they heard someone was make chocolate liquor and thought it was drugs. They probably wanted a bribe, so they stuck this person with a trivial charge.

Prohibition is stupid.
Police raiding a cook's house to steal her recipe books is stupid.
Not allowing people to ingest whatever chemicals they want to is stupid.
The government believing that it has the right - both legal and moral - to make certain plants and chemicals illegal is stupid.
Making people go to jail because they wanted to change their consciousness with chemicals is stupid.
