Mum tells how clubber ’high on cannibal’ tried to bite her finger off

the only rags I read are the Independent and the Metro. Judge at will.

I can't even mind the last time I read a paper tbh. Too much sadness and bullshit for my liking.

^ The Indy is my source of news too, although I read it online rather than purchase an actual paper.

Consuming the news without buying the paper, I presume. ^^

Don't feel bad, Miss Lou, the ads more than cover costs.

Absolutely, Sprout.

The real customers of just about every media organisation now are the advertisers. You, the paying readers, are just the product being sold. The choice of stories reported on is based around the paper being simply bait to suck you in with. Perversely, people prefer bad news over good. They won't buy a paper with a story about fluffy kittens unless they are being brutally beheaded.

I wouldn't feel bad about consuming news without actual purchase, fuck 'em! I follow The Indy and other news sources via Facebook, they are happy to constantly post clickbait articles, I love the comments more that the articles themselves, it's a great way to pick a fight and have a battle of the wits with a complete stranger.

Agreed. It worries me that people who read this rag believe the utter tripe that is printed in it, I feel the same about the Daily Mail. I have close family members that read the Mail (we have complete opposite political beliefs) and I'm constantly telling them what a piece of shit that 'newspaper' is, at least The Sun is kind of regarded as a joke (plus there are tits in it) therefore in my mind it is less dangerous than something like the Mail. The Daily Mail tries to come across as a 'quality newspaper' (snigger), but in fact it is cesspit of bile, hatred and right wing propaganda, it spews out lies and fuels irrational fear in tuhe public - I despise it.
Exactly how I feel about 'that' paper. I don't think I know anyone who reads the Mail, because they'd be getting a lecture from me. ?

I have never felt such despair for humanity as I have when I've accidentally clicked a link to an article on the dailyfail website...

The idolisation of celebs is just so unreal its scary, 'random kardashicunt #6 has a new haircut and you ALL NEED TO SEE IT'

Sites like that make me wanna embrace islam with open arms.. celeb culture truly is disgusting

I don't believe the Mail and The Sun are affiliated. The Sun is possibly one of his...

I don't know about official links but they poach both writers and stories with enough frequency to be considered one and the same.
That one being 'a disgrace to journalism'.

Many years ago when I lived with my mum and dad they would get the mail and the sun everyday and I'd read both when I got home from school. I always noticed that almost every story in the sun would then be repeated almost verbatim the following day in the mail. I often wondered if they deliberately left a day in between to disguise the fact that the stories were blantant copies :)

But they are both targeting similar market segments Teacle. The Sun likely has a lower reading level (age) than the Mail but mainly similar demographics....

Do they still do tits in page 3 in the Sun?

I applied for the cherished position of 'tit-displayer' at The Sun once.
My lack of tits apparently presented a problem.

That said the whole concept of tit displays is interesting.
A very good friend of mine works in a similar field for her own reasons. She is farrrr more intelligent than I ever will be and so is certainly vastly different to the typical 'bra size bigger than I.Q.' stereotype.

Yeah, I see Reuters named as a source in a lot of news articles, and they seem to be as realible as you can expect someone in that industry to be. I'll read Daily Mail articles, if I fancy a laugh. If I read a Sun article, I already expect it to be wrong (and they know it), so I don't get quite as giddy. When I had a paper round, The Guardian and Telegraph used to strike me as papers for people who can afford a better paper, and therefore those people must be stuck up. I was 11, though, so didn't realise that the content was far better than aforementioned rags, and ultimately stops people believing as much shite.

U/A'd for abuse. C'mon now people. I'm sick, I'm tired and we're all better than this...

You're joking right? No names were mentioned, we were having a general discussion about news?

I know all Eadder's don't read all the papers and news but some of us do. But there was no badness in that chat between Treacle and myself. He's a clever boy and likes to discuss stuff like that as I do. Would you prefer it if we stuck to "hey how's you?" This is what was great about Eadd some intellectual discussion. Does 1 person out of what 50+ lose that ability?
