A Texan mother who allegedly gave her six-year-old daughter a sandwich laced with illicit drug PCP has been arrested.

Torina Ann Gutierrez sent her first grader to school at Propham Elementary School on May 4 when staff noticed the child was showing signs of being under the influence of drugs, Fox News reports.

The child reportedly told a school counselor she could hear "banging" in her head and was found to be talking to people who weren't there.

She later told investigators she got "crazy dizzy" and that her lunch meat tasted like "fireworks".

On observing the young girl's behavior, the school counselor called the girl's mother who reportedly pleaded for the school not to tell the authorities.

She picked up her daughter at the school but later admitted her to hospital.

A toxicology report submitted to court and quoted by Fox News say confirmed the young girl had tested positive to PCP, also known as "angel dust".

Police say Gutierrez admitted to allowing drug dealer Robert Jackson, 33, into her home.

Gutierrez's daughter has been removed by child services and is currently living with a relative.

The mother has been charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

I Wanna see how they try and explain this an accident. "Oh yeah the pcp just fell out my coat pocket & happened to be in it's special super bouncy rubber container. It must have bounced right through the house and smashed against the wall in the kitchen - coming open and showering all our food with pcp. We are poor so we can't throw it away you see."

I highly doubt the mother did this to the kid unless she is some fucked up in the head nut job.... I put my money on that she pissed someone off and these people dosed something out that was in the sandwich
 
^how are those people going to get a hold of the sandwich in the first place though? I'd think the mother would make the sandwich before the daughter went to school and the daughter would take it to school that day, not leaving much time or chance for outsiders to throw some pcp in there without the mother or daughter seeing it or knowing about it.

that's still incredibly fucked up and the fact the mom pleaded them to not go to the authorities suggests she had something to do with it IMO.
 
Just because the girl said that her lunchmeat tasted like fireworks doesn't necessarily mean that there was PCP in it (though it sounds entirely possible).
It would be interesting to see if the mother also tests positive for PCP, and I wonder if it really was something that a dealer did as an attack on her.
It doesn't make sense for someone to poison their kids' lunch with PCP. There is no conceivable benefit to it. And any parent with half a heart would not want their kid on PCP. So, either she didn't have half a heart, or she was (maybe temporarily) nuts, or the dealer did it.

Stop giving this so much credit, it was originally reported by fox... lots of people use drugs (dude could be the moms weed dealer who only sells weed) but few know how these drug tests can work and that includes parents, their dealers, the teachers, cops and child protective services... Ill bet the little girl was prescribed effexor an SSRI whos side effects (which include serotonin syndrome) can cause strange taste perceptions and hallucinations. This is the only thing that makes sense to me unless the mother truly is retarded and heartless.
Also effexor often tests false positive for pcp

This must have something to do with it. There's no way that a mother would put PCP on her on childs sandwich ON PURPOSE, then send her to school.

Unless it's something like what Doctor_Ew420 said, which is also difficult to understand, maybe the father had a role in this since child services are now involved? He may now get custody.

I can't believe the mother knowingly did this.

Yeah...I mean, I'm not quite sure a 6 year old can be prescribed SSRI's. I mean, I know they prescribe them to kids and its wrong...I was 13 when prescribed Zoloft and even though doctors are warned about the suicidal thoughts side effect, they didn't care and I did in fact have suicidal thoughts from the drug...but 6 is a little hard to believe.

We need to ban children, that will solve it. NO, we need to introduce laws that ban parents, THAT will fix the problem. NO NO NO, we need to ban LIFE, that will surely work!

Agreed.
But what about innocent children that are "wittingly" (knowingly) drugged, such as the tens of thousands that have prescriptions for various stimulants?
If you ask me - fucked as well in many cases, but maybe important and helpful in a minority of cases.
 
Foul play is at hand in one way or another. Whether the mom drugged the sandwhich or not, she put her daughter in danger and deserves to have her taken away forever. If she was clueless about it, when the shcool called her she'd have been confused instead of begging for mercy. Most people, out of the goodness in their hearts, would like to think a mother couldnt possibly do this to their daughter but mothers injuring their children happens all the time (casey anthony) sick but true and more needs to be done to protect children from evil ppl wanting to harm them. Scum bags like that out there make me sick.

don't believe everything you read, kids.

there is a big global push for drug law reform at the moment. it is a global phenomenon, and it is not being led (in australia or america, at least) by mainstream politicians or the media, but by intellectuals and even celebrities.
there is a propaganda backlash under way, and this is one of the pieces.
even if the girl was drugged, i don't believe a fucking word i read in the mainstream press - this story is light on evidence but heavy on conjecture and prejudice.
