I have a mulberry tree outside my house had have been munching down on the unrippened fruit for 10 minutes now. Have done research on this, but I have not turned up much. Does anyone have any experiecne?

I'm about to tag along with major tom! I'll post when we land it we even make it off the ground.

I quickly tried to find a little information and all I found was a little bit on erowid saying unripened fruit from certain morus species have been reported to be hallucinogenic... so I'm going to send this over to PD but I don't know if it will stay open.

-> PD

PD mods, if this is the wrong place, I apologize.

Let me get this straight... you ate something which you had no idea what'd it do to you and then you tried to figure out how it was going to effect you?

Let me get this straight... I made a stupid negative comment that doesn't help the OP.

Pretty interesting never heard anything about this. I'm interested in hearing what chemical is in the unripe fruit.

Edit: 1-Deoxynojirimycin (DNJ), a polyhydroxylated piperidine, is a potent a-glycosidase inhibitor and is abundant in Morus spp. (mulberry trees) leaves and roots.
All I could find.

The chemical is DNJ or deoxynojirimycin. It is some for of a piperazine or one of its derivatives, not exactly sure which one. But it is said to have a slight speedy euphoric effect along with visual and auditory hallucinations. Doses range from 10 berries mixed with 10 leaves on up depending on the type of mulberry and its potency. I just started experimenting with this substance and so far have been unsuccessful in getting any real results other than just placebo and a slight head ache with a little upset stomach. Watch out when trying this stuff though. The reports I've seen about this stuff ussually ends with very unpleasant stomach problems the next morning along with just feeling plain sick.

Hmm I think I just had a break through with DNJ not sure if I should post it though

I don't see how this would be psychedelic. It looks like it's just going to mess with sugar metabolism.

Most of the DNM is apparently in the leaves anyway

Deoxynojirimycin does not look like something that would cross the BBB easily, except if it is a substrate for the glucose transporter

I read somewhere that it's the Mulberry bushes, not the trees, which have psychoactive compounds in them. Don't remember the source, but if you Google long enough, you'll find it.

When I was seventeen, I munched down a bunch of unripe Mulberry berries and leaves off a tree... and nothing happened whatsoever. A colossal disappointment for someone looking to have a psychedelic trip :( The ripe berries are tasty, though.
