mThis Monday - CBS evening news w/ dan rather.. report on oxycontin and its "dangers"

It really isn't xtc media news or club culture or rave culture news so i'm not sure it should be moved to media. I think he picked the right forum... maybe the topic label was poor... but OD is very opiate oriented and people here are interested in oxycontin... so much so they wrote a god damned faq to reduce questions -but its a mod decison and what do i know? (nothing... i know nothing, thats my story and i'm sticking to it!)

This is the right place.. most everyone who is intrested in the drug frequents this forum.. it will be interesting to see how one-sided they make this.. MSNBC has actually done some really good pieces lately, so who knows?

I agree. This is the right forum...this should server as a reminder to everyone to please keep the OC posts to a minimum.
 
the "show" was more like a 5 minute report on the drug during the CBS evening news at 6:30EST. They didn't "expose" anything new, or anything most of us haven't heard already... They showcased some guy from Louisiana who used to be the Sheriff of his town who's an "addict" now, and people bashing on the pharmaceutical (sp) company who makes it...
I thought it might have been on 48 Hours tonight at 10pmEST, but it's not, it's some murder mystery thing...
Basically, if you weren't watching the CBS evening news, you missed it, and trust me, you didn't miss much at all...
Actually, I think a while back, some news program (I honestly cannot remember if it was Dateline, 60 Minutes/II, 48 Hours, or 20/20) did a more in-depth look at OC, better than this little 2 minute thing...

why is the SHRIFF bashing the PHARMECEUTICAL company???what a faggot that guy must be, he is probably trying to find someone to "blaim"...
the company that makes the drug is the LAST person/place/thing i would blaim..
 
umm the sheriff of this town is being prosecuted for falsifying prescriptions for OC. He was an "addict". He wasn't bashing the pharm. company.
In addition to a focus on him, CBS interviewed some other people who stated that the pharm. company was responsibly for pushing the drugs on to doctors to prescribe, for having over aggressive salespeople, and for making OC seem like "less than it really is", where it's prescribed for moderate pain, whereas these people think it's like morphine, and should be prescribed for severe cases...
that was all in the time it took me to write this post more or less... it was a tww to five minute blurb about OC, no big deal really...
and i didn't say i agreed or disagreed with anything presented in the report. i'm just reporting what i saw...
