I see my doc this thursday and im currently on 15mg of roxy every 6 hours and its not doing the trick. I have a feeling once he gets passed the whole "youre on a lot" spiel he will try to give me MSIR 30mg. but the msir 15mg did nothing and i had to go back to percocet. how should i word things to get the roxy 30s? i believe that those would help my break through pain much better than morphine ir.

Didn't you just say you were on Roxicodone 15mg every 6 hours? That's like 60mg a day. Are you asking to raise your dose of 15mg to 30mg? 30mg every 6 hours? 120mg a day? That will be damn hard to get. All you can say is that the 15mg isn't helping and your not getting relief. Then just hope that he raises it. Don't specifically ask to double your dose.

Just say you're having breakthrough pain that the 15's aren't covering. However if you push the issue too hard he might switch your BT meds all together then you'll lose your roxi's. Also if you outright ask for 30's it will raise a red flag. If I were you I would complain about BT pain and ask if there's a version of your medication that's slightly stronger. I asked if there was a 20mg roxicodone.. lol

I always play dumb with my dr and get what I want. Sometimes it takes a few months as well. It all depends on your dr. It took forever for me to get bumped to 30's. I also think you're long acting medication is not working properly for you. But your dr seems to be deadset on morphine....

It took me a few months to get put on the meds I wanted. Opana ER and Roxicodone for BT pain. My dr started me on Roxicodone 15 then I went up from there.. when I switched dr's he tried to take my roxi and put me on dilaudid for BT pain.. it was a goddamn nightmare.. I put an end to that shit right quick. I finally got put on roxi 30's but only after yet another shitty diagnosis... I also have scholiosis of the neck now.. as well as lower spine then all the other shit I have posted about..

Remember getting what you want sometimes takes a few months but in the end it's worth it. I don't rush things, but I always end up getting what I want.

If you want to talk feel free to message me anytime.

I wasnt going to ask him to double my dose of course. that would be very ill advised. im just going to remind him of the problems ive had with MSIR in the past. the 15mg version. And see what he says to that. Or maybe he will put me on a dif med all together like dilaudid (doubtful) but yea. Id never be like double my dose.

Im sorry to hear about your multiple back problems. I was gonna ask him the same question "is there a 20mg dose of roxicodone" lol. what happened to you on dilaudid? if you dont want to answer here you can PM me, I think Im able to do that now. I just dont want to be on MSIR 30mg. I really REALLY dont. I hate morphine. and im on 100mg twice a day already. mscontin blows too.

I was taking 15mg roxi for breakthrough pain for a couple months, I told my pm doc I had to take 2 of the 15mg roxi's for relief and he said, "I'll make this easy for you, I'll prescribe you 30mg roxi's, they're scored so if you feel like you only need 15mg talk half, if you need more take a whole one."

He was right of course. (I guess that's why pm doc's get paid the big bucks)

My doc wouldnt go for the taking two thing, he got made when i told him i was taking 4 a day when the script says 1 every 6 hours. thats 4 a day. he give me 95. he wants me to take 3 a day plus have a FEW that i can use if i wake up really bad. but I dont think hes the type that i can say i took more of my medicine to. Thank you very much for your input though. I wish he worked that way. my doc can be a real hard ass when it comes to meds.

Yea that's what I was worried about. I never tell my dr that I took more.. However my dr knows I take 4 roxis a day. What did he say about your long acting medication not working properly? As much as I hate to say this you might want to look into switching dr's? Did he say anything about the rash?

This is more like how my dr is. We're lucky though not everyone has dr's like we do.

I see him today in a few hours, we will see what he says about the rash and the breakthrough. iive decided to copy you and ask if theres a 20mg roxy.

I may tell him that i took one and a half at times cuz it wasnt working well. cuz even if he doesnt raise my dose, im gonna run out early so i need more.
