MS Contin & Opiod Equivalency

How does the opiod conversion chart apply to MS Contin since its time release?

I just got my hands on some 30mg MS Contin and have never takin anything stronger than hydro & trying to figure proper dosage. I used to take X3 10/500's twice a day but that hasnt been for a year or so. Since then i have taken Kratom daily around 6-7grams 3 times a day (i recently scaled back to 2-3grams 2 maybe 3 times a day). I also had some 5/500's & i took 2 of those & didnt feel a thing unless i leveled it out with some Kratom (2-3grams hour prior).

Anyways that chart indicated 30mg morphine(oral)=30mg hydro(oral). So taking 1 would equal the highest dose i have ever taken @ 1 time but with the time release over 12 hours im wondering how that works? It sounds like taking 1 orally isnt gonna do shizz.

Im also wondering if i scraped off the coating & crushed it up & took it how that effects the time release if at all?

I'm really not sure how you figure time release pills on the conversion chart, but I'm pretty sure those are ones that crushing will defeat the time release. I'd say crush and swallow one, if you aren't good in an hour or two do a little more.

Swallow one whole, it will be time-release, but it should be enough, in fact it could be quite a bit. It is morphine after all.

Crushing it up will defeat the time release and give you all 30 mg at once. The conversion is the same, whether time released or not. The way to roughly figure out exactly how much morphine you'll be getting is to take the dosage (30 mg) and divide by 12 (for 12 hours, the period of time the time release is designed to slowly release over). So taking a 30 mg MS Contin is equivalent to taking 2.5 mg of morphine an hour for 12 hours straight.
