Hi,

I live in the UK but will be moving to Australia (Perth) for 6 months for work.

Any relevant information about Perth or Australia in general would be appreciated!

Cheers.

Can someone from Perth or WA please provide the OP with some useful information on the city please?

It may also help if the OP can repost and provide some questions in regards to what they would like to know about living and working in Perth

Perth is a quiet little city or to some people a big country town.

Its kind of out of the way so we miss out on a lot of the action as far as music, culture and parties go.

There is some nightlife but it isnt huge especially over the winter.

Depends what you're into really. I take it by the fact that your post was edited that you like to party.

The weather is ok but often in the summer it varies from being really dry and hot to windy and still fairly hot.

If you are coming for the next six months you will get mostly winter which will be more like your home land in its warmer months. Some rain and some cool days.

And either get a car or make sure you are near a rail line or regular bus run. The further away from these you are the less likely you will be able to get anywhere in any sort of timely fashion.

^ What about Joint Venture haha?

To the OP, Perth is an easy city to figure out so you wont have to worry about getting lost..If you don't have access to a car, Transperth is pretty good as well as out taxi's..If you find yourself catching train's just be careful..there are certain "dodgy" people that seem to hang around train's/train station's..:(

As for the nightlife, it's pretty awesome. Northbridge goes off on Friday and Saturday night's with certain club's such as "The Deen", "Ambar", 'The Mint", "Rise", The Paramount being the most popular. You also have Burswood casino which also is host to the "Evolution aka EVE nightclub which in my opinion only goes off on Sunday night's..

At the moment where currently still in Summer, but mother nature doesn't seem to be granting us with warm weather just yet...:( If your into beaching, we have plenty of beautiful beaches around..Scarborough and Trigg Beach probably being the most used..

Hope that help's abit :)

If you want anymore information shoot me a PM ;)

Thanks, thost give answers a lot of my questions! I'll OM you GumEr_johsE if I think of something else (one I get to 50 posts!) Thanks.

Yes I like to party but it looks like the options are limited there. I'll enjoy the sunshine, and living near the beach.

How friendly are Ozzies? I don't want to spend all my free time with the client company!

Aussies are like any other nationality. You get good ones and you get pricks.
My advice is to watch for the drop bears. They are pretty bad in Perth at the moment.

Think people are pretty friendly here in perth. Definately more laid back compared to brisbane, sydney or melbourne. Feels like a big country town more than a city to me.

But it has a good climate I believe! (Dont miss melbournes weather) And being a small city it seems cleaner than bigger cities I have been to.

Few options to party but remember Perth is not a big city so u cant compare to bigger cities.

But believe there is something for everyones tastes just not every weekend!

Yeah the beaches are pretty good here even in the city. If you're prepared to drive an hour or three south or even north they are better.

The only thing is there isnt much surf if you stay in the city. See the feed below from one of the main urban beaches.

The people are pretty friendly in general but there are more than a fair share of drunken brawlers just like the uk.

drop bears run the country. only some of us brighter ones, like mazza, know this. always look up. hey can't get you that way.
