what kind of cars do you like? what's your dream? what do you drive?

i stumbled across this today - the new volvo sport wagon concept:

looks great. reminds me of one of my favourite cars, the reliant scimitar:

Lancia Delta Rally

Ah man my mate's dad used to have one of these, it was such a cool car. Think he had the baisc Integrale too which was just plain red. But the rally kitted out one rocked.

I'm not much for cars; I drive a Ford Focus and have done since my sister crashed my Corsa. Probably wouldn't ever buy another car but a Focus just cos they're the one I've enjoyed driving the most out of all the ones I've driven (your average teen joy rider cars plus a Mercedes which I crashed). Would love a bright orange/pink one but the one I'm driving at the moment is my Mum's and I doubt she'd allow modifications. Still nice to take it out for a spin when she's over tho assuming I can find anywhere I can drive faster than 50mph before I have to have it back.

If I won the lottery I dunno what I'd buy. I always wanted a Mclaren F1 when I was younger and also the Castrol GT from the original Gran Turismo but yeah I honestly have no idea. Always thought TVRs look quite nice.

Id like one of those newish powerfull sporty black Audis, or a bad boy black Range Rover or one of the new souped up Minis, they are fucking cool, again it would have to be black. In order to have any hope of ever aquiring even second hand versions of these i need to get back into work and get a fairly well paying job ASAP.

Sadly it wouldnt be 'safe' to own one where i live at present, allthough current immobilisers make new cars very diificult to steal, some jealous yob would soon scratch the paint work with a key, or bash the wing mirrors off. Petty low level crime is so rife around here, its poiuntless even reporting it. So i may have to save getting my dream car until i move away from the cities, and back to more crime free rural areas. Those are the best roads for driving on anyway. I wish i had some idea where i could set up my own business and run it from anywhere.

My parents ran bed and breakfasts for a few years out in the sticks of wales and made good money at it. It was hard work though, all early mornings and late nights. I guess that is one potential way of earning dosh where jobs are few and far between and usually very poorly paid.

thats a favourite thing of popular / armchair psychology to try to analyse people by their choice of car, and to try to read some hidden meaning into it. Like if you have a skoda or a volvo it meant to signify that you are sensible and practical, if you have an old banger it either means you are skint or far too interesting to be interested in cars etc etc. All largely a load of bollocks imo.

Its a bit like 'reading body language' if someone crosses their legs with their inner thigh facing you its meant to mean they like you, but if they cross their legs away from you to have the outer thigh on top facing you that means they feel defensive. It's all hokus pokus i reckon.

All your cars look like substitutes for your small penis Alasdair. IMO.

Actually, so do Dan's. Apart from the one he actually drove.

Lol those motors are works of art

Wouldnt mind a mk2 golf or a 205 gti. or bmw e30

i'm not crazy about the bodykit on that 240 but those are very nice cars.

when i first moved to the u.s. my first car was a datsun 280z. it was a 1974 in that classic metallic blue color. it looked just like this:

it was fast as hell. when i gunned it in second the whole car lurched because of the straight 6. i lived in massachusetts but it had come from california. the guy i bought it from had a full service history from the day it was bought - 19 years of paperwork including every oil change. i had it less than two months and it was stolen. the cops found it burned out in boston. what a waste of a beautiful car...

Some impressive cars on display here. One thing that is quite annoying about life is that many people cant afford to get a really nice car until they are more financially secure, which often happens later on in life. So you get all these ancient doddering old fogies pootling along at 45 mph in fantastic sporty cars. It's annoying to see cars that could be exciting to drive being driven in such lame ways. Yeah i know you can get cars on credit, but that is a fuckin ripoff scheme. I've allways saved up first, and then bought my car with the money ive saved, rather than borrowing money to buy a car you cant really afford.
