Co-op Bank ex-boss Paul Flowers 'filmed buying drugs'

The footage showed Flowers counting out £300 in cash and asking if he could also get hold of ketamine.

Poor guy. Even bankers shouldn't be hung out to dry over ketamine use. They should be hung out to dry over other things.

Haven't read the story yet, but please tell me 'the dog ate it' was used as an excuse at some point?

It was for the horse, sir! I swear.

that is right enough. My Psychology lecturer Susan Blackmore, she's quite well known in her field, was open about having used ketamine trying to experience an Out Of Body Experience. Her speciality was/is in trying to proove/disproove the existence of these bizzare unexplained phenomenons.

"In others he said he was on "ket" and had the club drug GHB. Davies said he smoked cannabis with Flowers and witnessed him smoking crack cocaine."

A Methodist minister too, guess he needed the K to actually go see "God"

Oooh I've heard of her. Well done!

Well done to you to for having heard of her, She was interesting and stimulating, but she was not a pleasant person unfortunately. I think she had a chip on her shoulder that she was teaching students at bristol poly/university of west of england, when she probably felt her proper place was at one of the big famous unis. She was disgusted with us when she asked someting like "who's read the hitchikers guide to the galaxy ?". No one had. "Arent any of you into cult books ! :!". Im sure plenty of us were, we just hadnt read that particular one.

As a customer of Co-op bank I'm a bit split on what to think. If he had simple being doing powder cocaine what this have come out? I doubt it would have come out as its not of unheard of in the banking.

However this is a guy along with others who decided to buy up Britannia Bank which fucked op co-op bank which meant its no longer a co-op as its had to be bailed out by having private finance buy some of the company.

This guy thought his bank was worth 3 Billion when it was worth over 50 billion. What the fuck was he doing as chairman? Was it the drugs or him just being a idiot. I'm not sure probably both. He is human we all have our demons by god damn he should have known better. Or should he?

Whatever I'm glad he has been caught as he fucked up a part I was apart of due to the principle of being a co-op and due to his and others stupidity it is no longer.

Apparently police are making an investigation, he should face the law due to his position of power,

I did a contract at the Co-op bank (right before the Brittania take over) and used to sit in my motorhome either getting very drunk, smoking Salvia or sniffing mephedrone. I would definitely move your money. If you use a chip and pin card, that was me! Pretty sure I did a decent job though.

just cos I set up a few systems while extremely hungover (and probably drunk, if I'm honest :) )

No, keep your money there. There are some really decent folk there, down on the ground. People who care about running a decent service and doing things right. But don't be under any illusions about their ethical stance and all that. They have to compete in the capitalist world, which means, when push comes to shove, making a lot of the same decisions as plain old capitalists make.

Yes they are capitalists but surely when they say we won't invest in arms companies they won't? So as long as they keep to that I'm happy.

I believe in capatalism , but true capitalism where banks are not bailed out, and there is true competition. You can still have a welfare state as taxes don't have to be super low. It is the private markets that need true capitalism, not this bullshit version we have now.

Maybe, maybe not. Finance markets are so complex, businesses so intertwined, it could easily happen indirectly by accident. Happened to the Church of England.

But fuck it, the co-op is now 70% controlled by an American hedge fund. Good luck holding on to those ethics.

It's funny how because he's a banker and got caught buying ketamine you all feel sorry for him. If it had been cocaine he'd have been just another dickhead banker sniffing coke.

I couldn't care what drugs he abuses. He is a dickhead banker, cos bankers are (mostly) proven to be shadey fuckers who get far more than they deserve. My opinion of him whether he uses any drug doesn't change. But with you lot it's like he's ok cos he uses ketamine and not coke so he must be a nice guy, right?
